Abstract

A method of preventing an abnormality during wireless charging is provided. The method includes transmitting wireless charging power to a plurality of wireless power receivers based on a first power value determined according to a first mode by a wireless power transmitter, determining whether the wireless power transmitter or at least one of the plurality of wireless power receivers satisfies an abnormality occurrence condition, and if the abnormality occurrence condition is satisfied, transmitting wireless charging power to the plurality of wireless power receivers based on a second power value determined according to a second mode by the wireless power transmitter.

Claims (47)

1. A method of preventing an abnormality during wireless charging, the method comprising:

transmitting wireless charging power to at least one wireless power receiver, based on a first power value determined according to a first algorithm, by a wireless power transmitter;

determining whether an abnormality is expected to occur in the wireless power transmitter or the at least one wireless power receiver; and

if it is determined that the abnormality is expected to occur, transmitting the wireless charging power to the at least one wireless power receiver by the wireless power transmitter, before reaching an abnormal condition, based on a second power value determined according to a second algorithm.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first algorithm corresponds to a minimum error tracking algorithm.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second algorithm corresponds to a minimum power efficiency tracking algorithm.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining whether the wireless power transmitter or the at least one wireless power receiver satisfies an abnormality release condition; and

if the abnormality release condition is satisfied, transmitting wireless charging power to the at least one wireless power receiver, using the first power value determined according to the first algorithm, by the wireless power transmitter.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether the abnormality is expected to occur comprises:

measuring at least one of a voltage value, a current value, and a temperature value in the wireless power transmitter and the at least one wireless power receiver; and

when a measured value falls within a predetermined range indicating that the measured value approaches an error threshold set for determining the abnormal condition, determining that the abnormality is expected to occur.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured voltage value exceeds a predetermined value.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured current value exceeds a predetermined value.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured temperature value exceeds a predetermined value.

9. A method of preventing an abnormality during wireless charging, the method comprising:

determining a first transmission power value, taking into account a dominant wireless power receiver among a plurality of wireless power receivers by a wireless power transmitter;

transmitting wireless charging power using the determined first transmission power value by the wireless power transmitter;

determining whether an abnormality is expected to occur in at least one of the plurality of wireless power;

setting a wireless power receiver in which the abnormality is expected to occur as the dominant wireless power receiver; and

before reaching an abnormal condition, transmitting wireless charging power using a second transmission power value determined taking into account the set dominant wireless power receiver by the wireless power transmitter.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the dominant wireless power receiver is determined by a minimum error tracking algorithm.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the abnormal condition is when a measured voltage value exceeds a predetermined value.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the abnormal condition is when a measured current value exceeds a predetermined value.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the abnormal condition is when a measured temperature value exceeds a predetermined value.

14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

determining whether the at least one of the plurality of wireless power receivers satisfies an abnormality release condition; and

if the abnormality release condition is satisfied, transmitting wireless charging power to the plurality of wireless power receivers using a third power value determined according to a first algorithm, by the wireless power transmitter.

15. A method of preventing an abnormality during wireless charging, the method comprising:

transmitting wireless charging power to a at least one wireless power receiver by a wireless power transmitter;

determining whether an abnormality is expected to occur in the at least one wireless power receiver; and

if it is determined that the abnormality is expected to occur, transmitting a power adjust command to the at least one wireless power receiver before reaching an abnormal condition.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the power adjust command is a control command for reducing power consumption of the at least one wireless power receiver.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the power adjust command is transmitted in a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal.

18. The method of claim 15 , wherein determining that the abnormality is expected to occur comprises:

measuring at least one of a voltage value, a current value, and a temperature value in the at least one wireless power receiver; and

when a measured value falls within a predetermined range indicating that the measured value approaches an error threshold set for determining the abnormal condition, determining that the abnormality is expected to occur.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured voltage value exceeds a predetermined value.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured current value exceeds a predetermined value.

21. The method of claim 18 , wherein the abnormal condition is when the measured temperature value exceeds a predetermined value.

22. A method of preventing an abnormality during wireless charging, the method comprising:

transmitting wireless charging power to at least one wireless power receiver by a wireless power transmitter;

determining that an abnormality is expected to occur in the at least one wireless power receiver; and

before reaching an abnormal condition, transmitting a power reception stop command to the at least one wireless power receiver.

23. The method of claim 22 , wherein determining that the abnormality is expected to occur comprises:

measuring at least one of a voltage value, a current value, and a temperature value in the at least one wireless power receiver; and

when a measured value falls within a predetermined range indicating that the measured value approaches an error threshold set for determining the abnormal condition, determining that the abnormality is expected to occur.
