Abstract

Features are disclosed relating to a collaborative ticketing system that manages various aspects of ticketing for events (e.g., movies, concerts, sporting events, and the like) using knowledge about the contacts, friends, and other social connections of system users. The collaborative ticketing system may generate dynamic ticket offers that are based on the number of friends, invited by users, ultimately obtaining tickets. The collaborative ticketing system can also streamline the procurement of concessions and other event-related items by allowing users to pre-purchase such items (e.g., in connection with ticket offers), and then pick up the items at the event venue with little or no wait. In addition, users can preview event-related content (e.g., movie trailers) for event providers (e.g., movie studios), and answer questions or otherwise provide feedback about the event-related content in return for special offers, rewards, and other considerations.

Claims (13)

1 - 20 . (canceled)

21 . A system, comprising:

a server system that includes an interface that enables a movie content provider to upload video previews of movies and to specify, for each video preview, a set of feedback prompts to be presented to users that view the respective video preview; and

a mobile application that runs on mobile devices of users and communicates with the server system, the mobile application including a touch-based user interface that provides functionality for the users to view the video previews on the mobile devices and to respond to the corresponding feedback prompts with video preview feedback, the mobile application configured to transmit the video preview feedback to the server system;

wherein the server system is configured to anonymize the video preview feedback, and to provide the anonymized video preview feedback to the movie content provider;

wherein the touch-based user interface of the mobile application additionally provides functionality for a user to browse a listing of movies at local venues, select a movie and associated venue and show time, select a set of contacts, and initiate a group event to view the selected movie at the selected venue and show time;

wherein the mobile application is further configured to generate an encoded display representing a ticket for attending the group event, the encoded display adapted to be scanned at the venue and used to control admission to the venue for the group event.

22 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the touch-based user interface includes a rotatable wheel element that is rotatable via a swipe gesture to scroll through the listing of movies.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the system is configured to personalize the listing of movies for the user based at least partly on the video preview feedback provided by the user on the video previews.

23 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the interface of the server system enables the movie content provider to specify, in conjunction with a video preview of a movie, demographic data of target feedback sources, and the server system is configured to use the demographic data to select users to which to present the video preview.

24 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server system is configured to transmit a video preview to a mobile device of a user in response to detection that the mobile device is idle.

25 . The system of claim 21 , wherein the server system is configured to transmit a video preview to a mobile device of a user in response to detection that the mobile device has a WIFI connection.

26 . The system of claim 21 , further comprising a venue kiosk at the venue, the venue kiosk including a scanner, and being configured to communicate with the server system over a network, the venue kiosk configured to enable users to check-in at the venue, wherein the venue kiosk is responsive to the user scanning the encoded representation by at least notifying the user of check-in statuses of other members of the group event.
