Abstract

A system, method and computer program product for providing targeted messages to a person using telephony services by generating user profile information from telephony data and using the user profile information to retrieve targeted messages.

Claims (34)

1. A computer-implemented method of providing a targeted message to a client device, the method comprising:

receiving communication data from the client device, wherein the communication data comprises voice data;

converting at least a portion of the voice data into text data;

generating user profile information for a user of the client device based at least in part on the communication data and call history comprising a plurality of calls involving the user;

selecting the targeted message from a database comprising a plurality of messages, based at least in part on the text data or the user profile information; and

transmitting the targeted message to the client device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication data further comprises at least one of a call destination number, a call initiation number, a date of a call, and a time of a call.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication data further comprises geographic information corresponding to a location of the client device.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the communication data further comprises geographic information, and wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the geographic information.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the targeted message includes at least one of sound, text, and image data.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising extracting keywords from the text data, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the keywords.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising performing a reverse lookup based on the communication data to obtain additional information, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the additional information.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored therein that, in response to execution by one or more computers in a computer system, cause the computer system to:

convert voice data into text data, wherein the voice data is included in communication data received from a client device;

generate user profile information for a user of the client device based at least in part on the communication data and call history comprising a plurality of calls involving the user;

select a targeted message from a database comprising a plurality of messages, based at least in part on the text data or the user profile information; and

transmit the targeted message to the client device.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the communication data further includes at least one of a call destination number, a call initiation number, a date of a call, and a time of a call.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the communication data further includes geographic information corresponding to a location of the client device.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the communication data further includes geographic information, and wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the geographic information.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the targeted message includes at least one of sound, text, and image data.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 further having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the one or more computers in the computer system, cause the computer system to extract keywords from the text data, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the keywords.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 further having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the one or more computers in the computer system, cause the computer system to perform a reverse lookup based on the communication data to obtain additional information, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the additional information.

15. A server programmed to:

convert voice data into text data, wherein the voice data is included in communication data received from a client device;

generate user profile information for a user of the client device based at least in part on the communication data and call history comprising a plurality of calls involving the user;

select a targeted message from a database comprising a plurality of messages based at least in part on the text data or the user profile information; and

transmit the targeted message to the client device.

16. The server of claim 15 , wherein the communication data further includes at least one of a call destination number, a call initiation number, a date of a call, and a time of a call.

17. The server of claim 15 , wherein the communication data further includes geographic information corresponding to a location of the client device.

18. The server of claim 15 , wherein the communication data further includes geographic information, and wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the geographic information.

19. The server of claim 15 , wherein the targeted message includes at least one of sound, text, and image data.

20. The server of claim 15 further programmed to extract keywords from the text data, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the keywords.

21. The server of claim 15 further programmed to perform a reverse lookup based on the communication data to obtain additional information, wherein the targeted message is selected based at least in part on the additional information.
