Transaction tracking and display
View Patent ↗A transaction tracking system includes a display that permits viewing the relationship between related transactions. In the display, individual transactions are depicted as transaction icons sorted in time order horizontal rows according to order ID.
1. A system for tracking transactions, the system comprising:
a display screen displaying transaction information from related transactions; and
a server comprising a processor configured to:
identify using an investigation processing layer a transaction triggering an alert and transactions related to the transaction triggering the alert, the alert triggered according to user-defined rules;
send notification of the alert to a case manager;
load transactions related to the alert including the transaction triggering the alert;
identify metadata associated with the loaded transactions, including transaction type metadata, order identification metadata, customer type metadata, and triggering transaction metadata;
sort the loaded transactions by time-stamp; and
form the display by:
creating a horizontal time axis so that each position on the horizontal time axis denotes a unique sequential time of a transaction;
for each order in the loaded transactions having an order identification corresponding to a transaction already on the display, placing the order on the display;
for each order in the loaded transactions having an order identification not corresponding to a transaction already on the display, creating a horizontal sequence line and placing that order on the horizontal sequence line, such that a vertical transaction relationship axis representing transaction information is created, wherein vertically separated rows are identified by order identification information; and
wherein:
transaction icons including order and execution icons each representing a single transaction identifier are positioned in a single row on the display, each icon indicating the type of transaction,
related transactions are identified by an alert label associated with a single triggering transaction,
each transaction having a same unique order identification is positioned in a same row based on time-stamp information of each transaction positioned in the same row, and a graphic depicting how much of an order corresponding to the order identification is positioned in the row; and
a percentage of executed transactions for each row is calculated and displayed.
2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein each transaction icon has the same width in the horizontal axis and the same height in the vertical axis.
3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the transaction type information indicates whether the transaction is a new, amended or canceled transaction.
4. The system according to claim 3 , wherein transaction type information is positioned immediately over each transaction icon.
5. The system according to claim 1 , the display comprising a customer type label next to each row representing a unique order identification of the related transactions positioned in the row, the customer type label indicating a customer type selected from broker-dealer, customer, employee and proprietary.
6. The system according to claim 5 , wherein the customer type label is positioned immediately below each row.
7. The system according to claim 1 , wherein each transaction icon graphically identifies the transaction as a buy order, a buy execution, a sell order or a sell execution based on distinct color and graphic content.
8. A method for tracking transactions, comprising:
identifying using an investigation processing layer a transaction triggering an alert and transactions related to the transaction triggering the alert, the alert triggered according to user-defined rules;
sending notification of the alert to a case manager;
loading transactions related to the alert including the transaction triggering the alert;
identifying metadata associated with the loaded transactions, including transaction type metadata, order identification metadata, customer type metadata, and triggering transaction metadata;
sorting the loaded transactions by time-stamp; and
forming the display by:
creating a horizontal axis representing time information so that each vertical position denotes a time of a transaction;
for each order in the loaded transactions having an order identification corresponding to a transaction already on the display, placing the order on the display;
for each order in the loaded transactions having an order identification not corresponding to a transaction already on the display, creating a horizontal sequence line and placing that order on the horizontal sequence line, such that a vertical transaction relationship axis representing transaction information is created, wherein vertically separated rows are identified by a unique order identification; and
wherein:
transaction icons including order and execution icons each representing a single transaction identifier are positioned in a single row on the display, each icon indicating the type of transaction,
related transactions are identified by an alert label associated with a single triggering transaction,
each transaction having a same unique order identification is positioned in a same row based on time-stamp information of each transaction positioned in the same row, and a graphic depicting how much of an order corresponding to the order identification is positioned in the row; and
a percentage of executed transactions for each row is calculated and displayed.
9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein the transaction type information indicates whether the transaction is new, amended or canceled.
10. The method according to claim 9 , wherein transaction type information is positioned immediately over each transaction icon.
11. The method according to claim 8 , further comprising displaying a customer type label next to each row representing a unique order identification of the related transactions positioned in the row, the customer type label indicating a customer type selected from broker-dealer, customer, employee and proprietary.
12. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the customer type label is positioned immediately below each row.
13. The method according to claim 8 , wherein each transaction icon graphically identifies the transaction as a buy order, a buy execution, a sell order or a sell execution.
