Abstract

Compositions comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 and methods of treating a MUC16-expressing tumor cell are described.

Claims (26)

1. A fusion peptide comprising:

a cell delivery domain or a cell transduction domain, and

a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence XLIXGVLVTTRRRKK (SEQ ID NO:1), wherein the polypeptide is less than 50 amino acids in length.

2. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence CLICGVLVTTRRRKK (SEQ ID NO:2).

3. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide comprises all L-amino acids.

4. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide comprises all D-amino acids.

5. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide comprises a mixture of L- and D-amino acids.

6. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the cell transduction domain is an HIV tat cell transduction domain.

7. The fusion peptide of claim 1 , wherein the cell delivery domain is a poly-D-R, poly D-P, or poly D-K.

8. A composition comprising the fusion peptide of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, buffer, or diluent.

9. A method of inhibiting the growth of a MUC16 positive tumor cell in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a composition comprising:

(a) a fusion peptide comprising:

(i) a cell delivery domain or a cell transduction domain, and

(ii) a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence XLIXGVLVTTRRRKK (SEQ ID NO: 1), wherein the polypeptide is less than 50 amino acids in length; and

(b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, buffer, or diluent.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the tumor is an ovarian tumor, a pancreatic tumor, an esophageal tumor, a gastric tumor, or a colon tumor.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the administering is local, regional, systemic, or continual administration.

12. The method of claim 9 , further comprising administering to the subject a second anti-cancer therapy.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the second anti-cancer therapy is surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy, toxin therapy, immunotherapy, or cryotherapy.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the second anti-cancer therapy is administered prior to, after, or concurrently with the fusion peptide.

15. The method of claim 9 , wherein the polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence CLICGVLVTTRRRKK (SEQ ID NO:2).

16. The method of claim 9 , wherein the polypeptide comprises all L-amino acids.

17. The method of claim 9 , wherein the polypeptide comprises all D-amino acids.

18. The method of claim 9 , wherein the polypeptide comprises a mixture of L- and D-amino acids.

19. The method of claim 9 , wherein the cell transduction domain is an HIV tat cell transduction domain.

20. The method of claim 9 , wherein the cell delivery domain is poly-D-R, poly D-P, or poly D-K.
