Abstract

An organic light-emitting device includes a first electrode; a second electrode facing the first electrode; and an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode and including an emission layer, wherein the organic layer includes a compound of Formula 1: wherein R 1 , R 2 , X, m, and n in Formula 1 are as defined in the specification.

Claims (92)

1. A compound represented by Formula 1:

wherein, in Formula 1,

R 1 is selected from a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group and a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group;

R 2 is selected from F,—Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 3 )(Q 4 )(Q 5 ), and —B(Q 6 )(Q 7 );

X is O, S, Se, Te, or Po; and

m and n are each independently an integer selected from 1 to 8, wherein when m is 2 or more, R 1 s are the same as or different from each other, and when n is 2 or more, R 2 s are the same as or different from each other, and

wherein at least one substituent of the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, substituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group is selected from:

deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group,

a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, and a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 11 )(Q 12 ), —Si(Q 13 )(Q 14 )(Q 15 ), and —B(Q 16 )(Q 17 ),

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group,

a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, each substituted with at least one selected from deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —N(Q 21 )(Q 22 ), —Si(Q 23 )(Q 24 )(Q 25 ), and —B(Q 26 )(Q 27 ), and

—N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —Si(Q 33 )(Q 34 )(Q 35 ), and —B(Q 36 )(Q 37 );

Q 3 to Q 7 , Q 11 to Q 17 , Q 21 to Q 27 , and Q 31 to Q 37 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group.

2. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 2:

3. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 3:

wherein, in Formula 3,definition of R′ 2 is the same as the definition of R 2 .

4. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 4:

wherein, in Formula 4, definition of R′ 2 is the same as the definition of R 2 .

5. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 5:

wherein, in Formula 5, definition of R′ 2 is the same as the definition of R 2 .

6. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 6:

wherein, in Formula 6, definition of R′ 2 is the same as the definition of R 2 .

7. The compound of claim 1 , wherein X is O or S.

8. The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 2 is selected from a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group.

9. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is represented by Formula 3:

Wherein R′ 2 is selected from hydrogen, deuterium, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group.

10. The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 1 is a group represented by any one of Formulae 2a to 2f:

wherein, in Formulae 2a to 2f, Z 1 is selected from hydrogen, deuterium, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C20 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a halogen group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a hydroxyl group, and a carboxyl group;

H 1 is —O—, or —CR 51 R 52 —;

p is an integer selected from 1 to 10, wherein when p is 2 or more, a plurality of Z 1 s are the same as or different from each other;

R 51 and R 52 are each independently selected from a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C20 aryl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 heteroaryl group; and

* indicates a binding site.

11. The compound of claim 1 , wherein R 2 is a group represented by any one of Formulae 3a to 3g:

wherein, in Formulae 3a to 3g, Z 1 is selected from hydrogen, deuterium, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C20 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a halogen group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a hydroxyl group, and a carboxyl group;

H 1 is —O—, —S—, —CR 51 R 52 —, or —SiR 61 R 62 —,

p is an integer selected from 1 to 9,wherein when p is 2 or more, Z 1 s are the same as or different from each other;

R 51 , R 52 , R 61 , R 62 , R a , and R b are each independently selected from a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C20 aryl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 heteroaryl group; and

* indicates a binding site.

12. The compound of claim 9 , wherein R′ 2 is selected from hydrogen, deuterium, and groups represented by any one of Formulae 4a to 4e:

wherein, in Formulae 4a to 4e, Z 1 is selected from hydrogen, deuterium, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C20 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C20 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C20 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, a halogen group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a hydroxyl group, and a carboxyl group;

p is an integer selected from 1 to 7, wherein when p is 2 or more, Z 1 s are the same as or different from each other; and

* indicates a binding site.

13. The compound of claim 1 , wherein the compound of Formula 1 is selected from Compounds 1 to 40:

14. An organic light-emitting device comprising:

a first electrode;

a second electrode facing the first electrode; and

an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode and comprising an emission layer,

wherein the organic layer comprises the compound of Formula 1 of claim 1 .

15. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the emission layer comprises the compound of Formula1.

16. An organic light-emitting device comprising:

a first electrode;

a second electrode facing the first electrode; and

an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode and comprising an emission layer,

wherein the emission layer comprises a compound of Formula 1 as a blue host:

wherein, in Formula 1,

R 1 and R 2 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 3 )(Q 4 )(Q 5 ), and —B(Q 6 )(Q 7 );

wherein at least one substituent of the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, the substituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, the substituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, substituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, the substituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, the substituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and the substituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group is selected from:

—N(Q 31 )(Q 32 ), —Si(Q 33 )(Q 34 )(Q 35 ),and —B(Q 36 )(Q 37 );

Q 3 to Q 7 , Q 11 to Q 17 , Q 21 to Q 27 , and Q 31 to Q 37 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, and a monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group.

17. The organic light-emitting device of claim 16 , wherein the emission layer comprises the compound of Formula 1 as a blue fluorescent host.

18. The organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the first electrode is an anode,

the second electrode is a cathode, and

the organic layer comprises:

a hole transport region between the first electrode and the emission layer, the hole transport region comprising at least one selected from a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, and an electron blocking layer, and

an electron transport region between the emission layer and the second electrode, the electron transport region comprising at least one selected from a hole blocking layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer.

19. An organic light-emitting device comprising:

a first electrode as an anode;

a second electrode as a cathode, the second electrode facing the first electrode; and

an organic layer between the first electrode and the second electrode and comprising an emission layer,

wherein the organic layer further comprises:

a hole transport region between the first electrode and the emission layer, the hole transport region comprising at least one selected from a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, and an electron blocking layer, and

an electron transport region between the emission layer and the second electrode, the electron transport region comprising at least one selected from a hole blocking layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer,

wherein the electron transport region comprises the compound of Formula 1:

R 1 and R 2 are each independently selected from hydrogen, deuterium, —F, —Cl, —Br, —I, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an amidino group, a hydrazine group, a hydrazone group, a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, a sulfonic acid group or a salt thereof, a phosphoric acid group or a salt thereof, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 60 alkoxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 3 -C 10 cycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 10 heterocycloalkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 -C 60 arylthio group, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 60 heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed polycyclic group, a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent non-aromatic condensed heteropolycyclic group, —Si(Q 3 )(Q 4 )(Q 5 ), and —B(Q 6 )(Q 7 );

20. The organic light-emitting device of claim 19 , wherein the electron transport layer comprises the compound of Formula 1.

21. A flat panel display device comprising the organic light-emitting device of claim 14 , wherein the first electrode of the organic light-emitting device is electrically connected to a source electrode or a drain electrode of a thin-film transistor.
