Abstract

The disclosure relates to systems and methods for altering perception of virtual or game content in a virtual space based on one or more attribute levels. The perception of some virtual or game content may not be altered. Thus, the depiction of some content is altered while other content is not. A system may alter the depiction of game content based on attributes of an entity and/or based on which entity is to perceive the game content. The different depictions of game content may be provided to the same entity at different times and/or different perceptions of game content may be provided to different entities. Thus, a rich interface may be provided that differentially depicts game content based on attribute levels and/or the entity that is to perceive the game content.

Claims (39)

1. A system configured to alter perception of virtual objects in a virtual space, the system comprising:

one or more processors configured by machine-readable instructions to execute computer program modules, the computer program modules comprising:

execute an instance of a game space for a game and implement the instance of the game space, wherein the game space includes game content for presentation to users of the game space and facilitates participation by users in the game space via virtual characters, such that a first user participates in the game space and plays the game via a first virtual character and a second user participates in the game space and plays the game via a second virtual character, and wherein a first virtual object is a graphical object that is present and visible to the users in the instance of the game space, and the first virtual object is configured such that the virtual characters interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

obtain a first attribute level for the first virtual character, wherein the first attribute level is related to progress of the first virtual character in the game;

obtain a second attribute level for the second virtual character, wherein the second attribute level is related to progress of the second virtual character in the game;

determine a first depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the first user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object is based on the first attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a first interaction for the first virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

determine a second depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the second depiction of the first virtual object is based on the second attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a second interaction for the second virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space; and

provide the first depiction of the first virtual object to the first user and the second depiction of the first virtual object to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first depiction and the second depiction are different, wherein the first virtual object is interactable within the game space by the first virtual character and/or the second virtual character.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises an appearance of the first virtual object as it is expressed in the game space.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first attribute level comprises a particular age related to the virtual character.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first attribute level is related to a health or skill level of the virtual character.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first attribute level is related to a time of a timeline associated with the game space.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the first attribute level is related to progress of the first virtual character in the game and second attribute level is related to progress of a second virtual character in the game different from the first virtual character, and wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object is provided to the first virtual character and a second depiction of the first virtual object is provided to the second virtual character.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises a behavior of the first virtual object in the game space.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first interaction and the second interaction are the same type of interaction with the first virtual objection.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first interaction is determined at least in part by the first attribute level and the second interaction is determined at least in part by the second attribute level.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first interaction and the second interaction are different types of interactions with the first virtual object.

11. A computer-implemented method of altering perception of game content in a virtual space, the method being implemented in a computer that includes one or more processors configured by machine-readable instructions, the method comprising:

executing, by the one or more processors, an instance of a game space for a game and implement the instance of the game space, wherein the game space includes game content for presentation to users of the game space and facilitates participation by users in the game space via virtual characters, such that a first user participates in the game space and plays the game via a first virtual character and a second user participates in the game space and plays the game via a second virtual character, and wherein a first virtual object is a graphical object that is present in the instance of the game space and the first virtual object is configured such that the virtual characters interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

obtaining, by the one or more processors, a first attribute level for the first virtual character, wherein the first attribute level is related to progress of the first virtual character in the game;

obtaining, by the one or more processors, a second attribute level for the second virtual character, wherein the second attribute level is related to progress of the second virtual character in the game;

determining, by the one or more processors, a first depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the first user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object is based on the first attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a first interaction for the first virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

determining, by the one or more processors, a second depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the second depiction of the first virtual object is based on the second attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a second interaction for the second virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space; and

providing, by the one or more processors, the first depiction of the first virtual object to the first user and the second depiction of the first virtual object to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first virtual object is interactable within the game space by the first virtual character and/or the second virtual character.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises an appearance of the first virtual object as it is expressed in the game space.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first attribute level comprises a particular age related to the virtual character.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first attribute level is related to a health or skill level of the virtual character.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first attribute level is related to a time of a timeline associated with the game space.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first attribute level is related to progress of the first virtual character in the game and second attribute level is related to progress of a second virtual character in the game different from the first virtual character, and wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object is provided to the first virtual character and a second depiction of the first virtual object is provided to the second virtual character.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises a behavior of the first virtual object in the game space.

18. A tangible non-transitory electronic storage media comprising instructions for altering perception of game content in a virtual space, the instructions when executed by one or more processors configure the one or more processors to:

execute an instance of a game space for a game and implement the instance of the game space, wherein the game space includes game content for presentation to users of the game space and facilitates participation by users in the game space via virtual characters, such that a first user participates in the game space and plays the game via a first virtual character and a second user participates in the game space and plays the game via a second virtual character, wherein a first virtual object is a graphical object that is present in the instance of the game space and the first virtual object is configured such that the virtual characters interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

obtain a first attribute level for the first virtual character, wherein the first attribute level is related to progress of the first virtual character in the game;

obtain a second attribute level for the second virtual character, wherein the second attribute level is related to progress of the second virtual character in the game;

determine a first depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the first user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object is based on the first attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a first interaction for the first virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space;

determine a second depiction of the first virtual object for presentation to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the second depiction of the first virtual object is based on the second attribute level, wherein the first virtual object is configured such that there is a second interaction for the second virtual character to interact with the first virtual object within the game space; and

provide the first depiction of the first virtual object to the first user and the second depiction of the first virtual object to the second user in the instance of the game space, wherein the first depiction and the second depiction are different, wherein the first virtual object is interactable within the game space by the first virtual character and/or the second virtual character.

19. The tangible electronic storage media of claim 18 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises an appearance of the first virtual object as it is expressed in the game space.

20. The tangible electronic storage media of claim 18 , wherein the first depiction of the first virtual object comprises a behavior of the first virtual object in the game space.
