Protective cover for laptop computers
An exterior cover for a laptop computer having a display portion and a keyboard portion is disclosed. The exterior cover includes a first rigid planar element for placement on an outside surface of the display portion. The first rigid planar element includes a raised edge along a perimeter of the first rigid planar element, wherein the raised edge extends toward the display portion. The first rigid planar element further includes a plurality of tabs located on the raised edge, wherein each tab extends from the raised edge for gripping the display portion. The exterior cover further includes a second rigid planar element for placement on an outside surface of the keyboard portion. The second rigid planar element includes a raised edge extending toward the keyboard portion. The second rigid planar element further includes a plurality of tabs for gripping the keyboard portion.
1. A two-piece exterior cover for a laptop computer, comprising:
a first malleable planar piece, the first malleable planar piece having a size sufficient to cover an outside surface of a display portion of the laptop computer, the first malleable planar piece including:
a raised edge on the first malleable planar piece; and
at least two malleable tabs located on the raised edge, wherein each tab extends from the raised edge and wherein the at least two tabs provide pressure in opposite directions towards a center of the first malleable planar piece;
a second malleable planar piece, the second malleable planar piece having a size sufficient to cover an outside surface of a keyboard portion of the laptop computer, the second malleable planar piece including:
a second raised edge on the second malleable planar piece;
at least two second malleable tabs located on the second raised edge; and
a depression;
wherein the second malleable planar piece is not directly connected to the first malleable planar piece.
2. The exterior cover of claim 1 , wherein the first malleable planar piece comprises four malleable tabs.
3. The exterior cover of claim 1 , wherein the second malleable planar piece comprises three malleable tabs.
4. The exterior cover of claim 1 , wherein the second raised edge of the second malleable planar piece includes at least one orifice.
5. The exterior cover of claim 1 , wherein the first malleable planar piece is indirectly connected to the second malleable planar piece by the laptop computer.
6. A two-piece exterior cover for a laptop computer, comprising:
a first malleable planar piece, the first malleable planar piece having a size sufficient to cover an outside surface of a display portion of the laptop computer, the first malleable planar piece including:
a raised edge on the first malleable planar piece; and
at least two malleable tabs located on the raised edge, wherein each tab extends from the raised edge and wherein the at least two tabs provide pressure in opposite directions towards a center of the first malleable planar piece;
a second malleable planar piece, the second malleable planar piece having a size sufficient to cover an outside surface of a keyboard portion of the laptop computer, the second malleable planar piece including:
a tab on the second malleable planar piece;
a second raised edge on the second malleable planar piece;
at least two malleable tabs located on the raised edge;
wherein the second malleable planar piece is not directly connected to the first malleable planar piece, and the tab on the second malleable planar piece is angled in towards the keyboard portion of the laptop computer.
7. The exterior cover of claim 6 , wherein the first malleable planar piece is indirectly connected to the second malleable planar piece by the laptop computer.
