Abstract

A memory system may include: a memory device including a plurality of pages each having a plurality of memory cells coupled to a plurality of word lines and suitable for storing read data and write data requested from a host, and a plurality of memory blocks each having the pages; and a controller suitable for grouping the pages included in the memory blocks so as to divide each of the memory blocks into a plurality of page zones, and storing data corresponding to a write command into pages of a second memory block of the memory blocks and storing program update information on a first page zone of a first memory block of the memory blocks into a list, when receiving the write command for data stored in a first page of the first page zone in the first memory block.

Claims (40)

1. A memory system comprising:

a memory device including a plurality of memory blocks each block including a plurality of pages, wherein the plurality of pages included in each of the plurality of memory blocks are grouped into a plurality of page zones; and

a controller configured to:

update data stored in at least one of the plurality of pages by programming new data for replacing old data;

update a map list including data update information or information of invalid pages included in each of the plurality of page zones, caused by the updating of the data; and

identify the invalid pages and valid pages among the plurality of pages of a victim block among the plurality of memory blocks based on the map list and a map information indicating that the data are stored in the plurality of pages,

wherein the data update information or information of invalid pages having a plurality of groups of information, each of the plural groups of information includes the information of first page zones and second page zones by units of the page zones of corresponding memory blocks,

wherein the controller identifies valid pages included in each second page zone based on the map list, and

wherein the controller identifies the valid pages included in each first page zone based on the map information for the plurality of pages.

2. The memory system of claim 1 , wherein the controller further identifies at least one of the plurality of memory blocks having the greatest number of the invalid pages as the victim block based on the map list.

3. The memory system of claim 1 , wherein the controller updates data stored in at least one closed memory block.

4. The memory system of claim 1 ,

wherein the map list includes a plurality of bits of information of the invalid pages.

5. The memory system of claim 4 , wherein each of the plurality of bits of information includes the information of invalid pages and valid pages by units of the pages of corresponding memory blocks.

6. The memory system of claim 5 , wherein the map list is a bitmap, in which number of bits of each group of information respectively correspond to entire pages of corresponding memory blocks.

7. The memory system of claim 4 ,

wherein each of the first page zones includes at least one of the invalid pages, and

wherein each of the second page zones is free of an invalid page.

8. The memory system of claim 7 , wherein the map list is a bitmap, in which number of bits of each group of information respectively correspond to entire page zones of corresponding memory blocks.

9. The memory system of claim 1 , wherein the controller further performs a garbage collection operation to the victim block.

10. An operating method of a memory system including a plurality of memory blocks each block including a plurality of pages, comprising:

updating data stored in at least one of the plurality of pages by programming new data for replacing old data;

updating a map list including data update information or information of invalid pages caused by the updating of the data; and

identifying the invalid pages and valid pages among the plurality of pages of a victim block based on the map list and a map information indicating that the data are stored in the plurality of pages,

wherein the data update information or information of invalid pages includes a plurality of bits of information, each of the plurality memory blocks includes a plurality page zones each having a predetermined number of pages,

wherein each of the plurality bits of information includes the information of first page zones and second page zones by units of the page zones of corresponding one among the plurality of memory blocks, and

wherein the identifying of the invalid pages and the valid pages comprises:

identifying the valid pages included in each second page zone based on the map list; and

identifying the valid pages included in each first page zone based on the map information for the plural pages.

11. The operating method of claim 10 , further comprising identifying a memory block having the greatest number of the invalid pages as the victim block based on the map list.

12. The operating method of claim 10 , wherein the updating of data is performed to data stored in at least one closed memory block.

13. The operating method of claim 10 ,

wherein the map list includes a plurality of bits of information of the invalid pages.

14. The operating method of claim 13 , wherein each of the plurality bits of information includes the information of invalid pages and valid pages by units of the pages of corresponding memory blocks.

15. The operating method of claim 14 , wherein the map list is a bitmap, in which number of bits of each group of information respectively correspond to entire pages of corresponding memory blocks.

16. The operating method of claim 13 ,

wherein each of the first page zones includes one or more of the invalid pages, and

wherein each of the second page zones is free of the invalid page.

17. The operating method of claim 16 , wherein the map list is a bitmap, in which number of bits of each group of information respectively correspond to entire page zones of corresponding memory blocks.

18. The operating method of claim 10 , further comprising performing a garbage collection operation to the victim block.
