Abstract

Ensuring security of electronic transactions between a user and a service provider involves employing three-dimensional transaction authentication based on user-facilitated authentication of a device and user-facilitated authentication of a service provider transaction domain.

Claims (10)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving electronic transaction facility identification information and handheld electronic transaction device identification information at a transaction service provider from the handheld electronic transaction device configured with the electronic transaction facility;

associating the handheld electronic transaction device and the electronic transaction facility with a user of the handheld electronic transaction device by authenticating information input by the user to the handheld device during electronic transaction facility registration;

activating a user account accessible to the user via the electronic transaction facility with the transaction service provider based on the information input by the user to the handheld device;

facilitating transfer of service provider security information between at least one of a plurality of service providers and the electronic transaction facility by the transaction service provider, thereby providing at least one trusted electronic transaction facility-to-service provider transaction domain;

facilitating, with the transaction service provider, access by the electronic transaction facility to the activated user account; and

encoding content of an electronic transaction conducted via the trusted transaction domain with the at least one of the plurality of service providers by using three-dimensional authentication that comprises separate security protocols for each of the user of the handheld device, the handheld device, and the transaction domain, wherein the electronic transaction content comprises information from the activated user account that is accessible by the electronic transaction facility.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a public key infrastructure associated with the trusted electronic transaction facility-to-service provider transaction domain is adaptable on the basis of at least one of the user of the handheld device, the handheld device, and the domain.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the encoded content of the electronic transaction conducted via the trusted transaction domain is a transaction request.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein three-dimensional authentication further comprises identity verification of the user of the handheld electronic transaction device. the transaction service provider and the service provider.
