Abstract

Compositions comprising a first biological molecule from a Neisseria bacterium and a second biological molecule from a Neisseria bacterium. The term “biological molecule” includes proteins and nucleic acids. Preferred Neisseria species are N. meningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae.

Claims (28)

1. A composition comprising

(a) an immunologically effective amount of a protein having the amino acid sequence of the mature form of SEQ ID NO: 3518 lacking amino acids 1-19 of SEQ ID NO: 3518 and lacking an N-terminal cysteine at position 20 of SEQ ID NO: 3518;

(b) an immunologically effective amount of an N. meningitidis protein comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 7645, and

(c) an effective amount of an adjuvant.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition additionally comprises a buffer.

3. The composition claim 1 , wherein the protein lacking the N-terminal cysteine is a recombinant protein.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein lacking the N-terminal cysteine is a fusion protein.

5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein lacking the N-terminal cysteine is fused to a GST protein or a HIS-tag.

6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the adjuvant is aluminum hydroxide.

7. A composition comprising

(a) a protein having the amino acid sequence of the mature form of SEQ ID NO: 3518 lacking amino acids 1-19 of SEQ ID NO: 3518 and lacking an N-terminal cysteine at position 20 of SEQ ID NO: 3518, wherein the protein is expressed as a fusion protein; and

(b) an immunologically effective amount of an N. meningitidis protein comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 7645, and

(c) an effective amount of an adjuvant.

8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the protein lacking the N-terminal cysteine elicits a bactericidal immune response against a heterologous Neisseria meningitidis strain.

9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the N. meningitidis protein comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7645.

10. The composition of claim 1 , consisting essentially of (a) and (b).

11. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the composition additionally comprises a buffer.

12. The composition of claim 7 , wherein the adjuvant comprises aluminum hydroxide.

13. The composition of claim 7 , consisting essentially of (a) and (b).

14. A composition comprising

(a) an immunologically effective amount of a protein having the amino acid sequence of the mature form of SEQ ID NO: 3518 lacking amino acids 1-19 of SEQ ID NO: 3518 and lacking an N-terminal cysteine at position 20 of SEQ ID NO: 3518; and

(b) an immunologically effective amount of an N. meningitidis protein comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 7645, and

(c) an effective amount of an adjuvant.

15. The composition of claim 14 , consisting essentially of (a), (b), and (c).

16. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the composition additionally comprises a buffer.

17. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the adjuvant comprises aluminum hydroxide.

18. The composition of claim 15 , wherein the composition additionally comprises a buffer.

19. The composition of claim 15 , wherein the adjuvant comprises aluminum hydroxide.
