Abstract

A cosmetic composition includes (i) water in an amount of from 5% to 70% by weight of the total composition. The cosmetic composition is free from preservatives, wherein free from preservatives is as defined herein.

Claims (63)

60 . A cosmetic composition comprising:

(i) water in an amount of from 5% to 20% by weight of the total composition;

(ii) saturated fats in an amount of 2% to 15% by weight of the total composition; and

(iii) salt in an amount of 30% to 90% by weight of the total composition.

62 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 5% to 15% by weight of the total composition.

63 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 5% to 12% by weight of the total composition.

64 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 5% to 10% by weight of the total composition.

65 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein saturated fats are present in an amount of 2% to 10% by weight of the total composition.

66 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein the saturated fats are selected from mango butter, coconut oil, Japan wax, avocado butter and mixtures thereof.

67 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein salt is present in an amount of 30% to 70% by weight of the total composition.

68 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein salt is present in an amount of 40% to 60% by weight of the total composition.

69 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , wherein salt is present in an amount of 45% to 55% by weight of the total composition.

70 . A cosmetic composition comprising:

(a) a colloidal dispersion of a clay;

(b) water in an amount of 10% to 30% by weight of the total composition; and

(c) humectant in an amount of 25% to 60% by weight of the total composition.

71 . 72 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the clay is present in an amount of from 15% to 55% by weight of the total composition.

73 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the clay is present in an amount of from 25% to 40% by weight of the total composition.

74 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the clay is selected from kaolin, talc, calamine, rhassoul mud, fullers earth, bentonite clays, and mixtures thereof.

75 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 74 , wherein the clay is selected from kaolin, talc and mixtures thereof.

76 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 10% to 25% by weight of the total composition.

77 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 76 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 10% to 20% by weight of the total composition.

78 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 77 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 12% to 18% by weight of the total composition.

79 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the humectant is selected from honey, glycerine, monopropylene glycol, 1, 2-propanediol, agave nectar, fruit syrups, herbal syrups, sugar solutions and mixtures thereof.

80 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 79 , wherein the humectant is selected from honey, glycerine and mixtures thereof.

81 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the humectant is present in an amount of 30% to 50% by weight of the total composition.

82 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , wherein the humectant is present in an amount of 37% to 47% by weight of the total composition.

83 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 70 , comprising:

(a) a colloidal dispersion of a clay wherein the clay is present in an amount of from 25% to 40% by weight of the total composition;

(b) water in an amount of 12% to 18% by weight of the total composition; and

(c) humectant in an amount of 37% to 47% by weight of the total composition.

84 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , further comprising an emulsifier.

85 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 84 , wherein the emulsifier is selected from triethanolamine, lactic acid, stearic acid, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, sodium laureth sulfate, glyceryl stearate, polyethylene glycol and mixtures thereof.

86 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 85 , wherein the emulsifier is selected from stearic acid, cetearyl alcohol and mixtures thereof.

87 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 84 , wherein the emulsifier is present in an amount of from 1.5% to 15% by weight of the total composition.

88 . A cosmetic emulsion composition comprising:

(i) water in an amount of from 20% to 70% by weight of the total composition;

(ii) saturated fats in an amount of 6% to 15% by weight of the total composition; and

(iii) an emulsifier.

89 . 90 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 30% to 70% by weight of the total composition.

91 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein water is present in an amount of from 33% to 70% by weight of the total composition.

92 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein saturated fats are present in an amount of 6% to 13% by weight of the total composition.

93 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein saturated fats are present in an amount of 6% to 11% by weight of the total composition.

94 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein the saturated fats are selected from cocoa butter, olive oil or mixtures thereof.

95 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , comprising cocoa butter in an amount of at least 6% by weight of the total composition.

96 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , comprising cocoa butter in an amount of no greater than 15% by weight of the total composition.

97 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , comprising olive oil in an amount of at least 25% by weight of the total composition.

98 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , comprising olive oil in an amount of no greater than 50% by weight of the total composition.

99 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein the emulsifier is selected from triethanolamine, lactic acid, stearic acid, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, cetyl alcohol, sodium laureth sulfate, glyceryl stearate, polyethylene glycol and mixtures thereof.

100 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 99 , wherein the emulsifier is selected from stearic acid, cetearyl alcohol and mixtures thereof.

101 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein the emulsifier is present in an amount of from 1.5% to 15% by weight of the total composition.

102 . A cosmetic emulsion composition according to claim 88 , wherein the emulsifier is present in an amount of from 2% to 8% by weight of the total composition.

103 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , further comprising at least one additional component selected from binders, fillers, opacifiers, perfumes, colors, fragrances, scrubs, exfoliants and mixtures thereof.

104 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 103 , further comprising at least one additional component selected from colors, fragrances, scrubs, exfoliants and mixtures thereof.

105 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , further comprising fruit selected from lime, grapefruit and mixtures thereof.

106 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 60 , further comprising a protein.

107 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 106 , wherein the protein is selected from tofu, banana, soya, soya lecithin, eggs and mixtures thereof.

108 . A cosmetic composition according to claim 106 , wherein the protein is present in an amount of from 1% to 30% by weight of the total composition.

109 . A cosmetic method comprising contacting the skin or hair of a user with a cosmetic composition of claim 60 .
