Abstract

The invention relates to a method, a device and a binding agent system for producing three-dimensional models.

Claims (49)

1. A method for producing a component comprising the steps of:

(a) applying a particle layer to a building platform in a first step with the aid of a powder coater;

(b) selectively applying a binder system in a second step with the aid of a dosing device;

(c) subjecting the applied layer to a heat treatment, with the aid of a heat source after the binder system has penetrated into the particle layer;

(d) lowering the building platform by the thickness of one layer, or raising the powder coater by the thickness of one layer;

wherein steps (a), (b), (c), and (d) are repeated until the component is built up, and the binder system includes:

i) a novolak and/or a resol; and

ii) a solvent;

wherein the particle layers on the building platform are temperature-regulated at a base temperature of 50° C. to 70° C., wherein the heat treatment causes evaporation of the solvent.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 100° C. to 170° C.; and the solvent does not boil at the base temperature.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein

the particulate material is selected from the group comprising sands, ceramic powders, metal powers, plastics, wood particles, fibrous materials, celluloses lactose powders, and any combination thereof.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the heat treatment step is carried out at a temperature of 130° C. to 160° C.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the base temperature of no less than 60° C.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the binder system is selectively applied with the aid of an ink-jet print head or a filament dispenser.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the component is subjected to an additional heat treatment step after the component is built up.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the additional heat treatment step is after a step of unpacking the component.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the additional heat treatment step is at a temperature of 150° C. to 200° C.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder system includes at least one adhesive, which is hardenable by the supply of heat, and a solvent.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the solvent includes an alcohol.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder system includes the novolak.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the component is a 3D molded body.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the binder system includes the resol.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particle layers on the building platform are temperature-regulated at a base temperature of no less than 60° C.

16. A method for producing a component comprising the steps of:

(a) applying a particle layer to a building platform in a first step with the aid of a powder coater;

(b) selectively applying a binder system in a second step with the aid of a dosing device;

(c) subjecting the applied layer to a heat treatment with the aid of a heat source carried out after every second to seventh application of a particle layer after the binder system has penetrated into the particle layer;

(d) lowering the building platform by the thickness of one layer, or raising the powder coater by the thickness of one layer;

wherein steps (a), (b), (c), and (d) are repeated until the component is built up, and the binder system includes:

i) a novolak and/or a resol; and

ii) a solvent;

wherein the particle layers on the building platform are temperature-regulated to prevent boiling of the solvent before the heat treatment, and the heat treatment causes evaporation of the solvent.

17. A method for producing a component comprising the steps of:

(a) applying a particle layer to a building platform in a first step with the aid of a powder coater;

(b) selectively applying a binder system in a second step with the aid of a dosing device;

(c) subiecting the applied layer to a heat treatment to a temperature of 100° C. to 170° C., with the aid of a heat source after the binder system has penetrated into the particle layer;

(d) lowering the building platform by the thickness of one layer, or raising the powder coater by the thickness of one layer;

wherein steps (a), (b), (c), and (d) are repeated until the component is built up, and

the binder system includes at least one adhesive, which is hardenable by the supply of heat, and

a solvent;

wherein

the adhesive is a thermally cross-linkable prepolymerisate,

the solvent is ethanol and/or 2-propanol, and/or an aqueous solution,

the binder system includes an additive selected from the group consisting of tensides and antifoaming agents,

and

the binder system has a viscosity of 5 to 40 mPas at room temperature;

wherein the particle layers on the building platform are temperature-regulated at a base temperature of 50° C. to 70° C., wherein the heat treatment causes evaporation of the solvent;

wherein the adhesive includes a resin that is a novolak and/or resol, wherein the amount of the resin in the binder system is no more than 30 percent by weight.
