Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an integrated liner-based system having an overpack and a liner provided within the overpack, the liner comprising a mouth and a liner wall forming an interior cavity of the liner and having a thickness such that the liner is substantially self-supporting in an expanded state, but is collapsible at a pressure of less than about 20 psi. The liner and overpack may be made by blow molding the liner and the overpack at the same time using nested preforms.

Claims (21)

1 .- 20 . (canceled)

21 . A liner-based system comprising:

a liner disposed within an overpack, wherein:

the liner is configured to collapse away from an interior wall of the overpack upon the introduction of a gas or liquid into an annular space between the liner and the overpack, thereby pressure dispensing contents of the liner; and

at least one of the liner and overpack includes one or more channels that protrude into the annular space to facilitate gas to flow through the annular space between the overpack and liner during pressure dispensing.

22 . The liner-based system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more channels are configured to prevent the liner from making complete contact with the overpack at a location of the one or more channels.

23 . The liner-based system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more channels protrude from the interior wall of the overpack into the annular space.

24 . The liner-based system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more channels are provided near the top of the liner and the overpack.

25 . The liner-based system of claim 24 , wherein the liner is suspended from a fitment that is supported by a neck of the overpack, the fitment including a support ring that defines a passage that is in fluid communication with the one or more channels.

26 . The liner-based system of claim 25 , wherein the fitment is integral with the liner.

27 . The liner-based system of claim 25 , comprising a cap that covers the fitment and at least a portion of the neck of the overpack.

28 . The liner-based system of claim 27 , wherein the cap is secured to the fitment.

29 . The liner-based system of claim 27 , wherein the cap is secured to the overpack.

30 . The liner-based system of claim 27 , wherein a seal member is disposed between the cap and the neck of the overpack.

31 . The liner-based system of claim 30 , wherein the seal member is an O-ring.

32 . The liner-based system of claim 30 , wherein:

the seal member is disposed on an outer circumference of the neck of the overpack; and

the cap includes a skirt portion that surrounds the seal member.

33 . The liner-based system of claim 21 , wherein the liner and overpack are made by blow molding the liner and the overpack at the same time using nested preforms.

34 . The liner-based system of claim 33 , wherein the liner is of a different material than the overpack, and the liner has a different melting point than the overpack.

35 . The liner-based system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more channels protrude from the liner into the annular space.
