Abstract

A reagent container transfer mechanism transfers a reagent container selected from among reagent containers stored in a second reagent container storage section to a first reagent container storage section. A controller controls the reagent container transfer mechanism to transfer a reagent container from a second reagent container storage section to the first reagent container storage section on the basis of a predetermined priority condition. The predetermined priority condition is one of a reagent provided with an effective calibration curve result, a number of remaining tests, and an expiration date of a reagent.

Claims (18)

1. An automatic analyzer comprising:

an optical detector;

a plurality of reagent containers each having a barcode attached thereto indicating information of an effective calibration curve result and an expiration date of a reagent contained therein;

a first reagent container storage section storing one or more of the plurality of reagent containers;

a reagent dispensing mechanism for dispensing a reagent from a reagent container stored in the first reagent container storage section;

a second reagent container storage section storing one or more of the plurality of reagent containers;

a reagent container transfer mechanism transferring one or more reagent containers stored in the second reagent container storage section to the first reagent container storage section;

a barcode reader configured to read information from respective barcodes attached to each of the plurality of reagent containers, the information indicating at least information of an effective calibration curve result and expiration date information,

a controller connected to the barcode reader and the reagent container transfer mechanism configured to:

control the reagent container transfer mechanism to transfer a first reagent container stored in the second reagent container storage section to the first reagent container storage section according to predetermined priority conditions that indicate a priority of transferring containers from the second reagent container storage section to the first reagent container storage section,

wherein the predetermined priority conditions indicate that reagents stored in the second storage section that have an effective calibration curve result are transferred from the second reagent container storage section to the first reagent container storage section prior to other reaction containers stored in the second reagent container storage section, and

wherein the predetermined priority conditions indicate that among two or more reagents that have respective effective calibration curve results, a priority of transferring a second reagent, among the two or more reagents, prior to a third reagent, among the two or more reagents is based on respective expiration date information of the two or more reagents.

2. The automatic analyzer according to claim 1 ,

wherein the controller is further programmed to: determine, based on stored information of positions of reagent containers in the first reagent container storage section, whether a position in the first reagent container storage section is vacant,

control the reagent container transfer mechanism to transfer the one or more reagent containers from the second reagent container storage section according to the predetermined priority conditions to a determined respective vacant positions in the first reagent containers storage section.

3. The automatic analyzer according to claim 2 ,

wherein the controller is programmed to:

control the reagent container transfer mechanism to transfer the reagent containers from the second reagent container storage section according to the predetermined priority conditions to the first reagent container storage section only upon determining that there is a vacant position in the first reagent container storage section.
