Abstract

This disclosure relates to methods of immunization comprising administering an effective amount of an immunogenic composition comprising an antigen or vaccine and an adjuvant disclosed herein to a subject in need thereof. In certain embodiments, the adjuvant is 1,8-dihydroxy-9,10-dihydroanthracen-9-one or derivative thereof. In certain embodiments, the adjuvant is N-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-5-chloro-2-hydroxy-benzamide or derivatives thereof. In certain embodiments, the adjuvant is a fullerene or derivatives thereof, e.g., Fullerene-C 60 . In certain embodiments, the disclosure relates to compositions and devices comprising adjuvants disclosed herein.

Claims (14)

1. A method of pathogenic immunization comprising administering to skin an effective amount of an antigen or vaccine and an adjuvant to a subject in need thereof, wherein adjuvant is 1,8-dihydroxy-9,10-dihydroanthracen-9-one.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antigen comprises a polypeptide sequence of a pathogen.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the pathogen is a virus, bacteria, or fungus.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the antigen is a virus particle, viral envelope protein, an influenza hemagglutinin or neuraminidase.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the vaccine is a live, attenuated, or killed virus.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein administration to skin is topical administration or intradermal administration.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein administration to skin is by syringe or microneedle.

8. A method of pathogenic immunization comprising administering to skin an effective amount of an antigen or vaccine and an adjuvant to a subject in need thereof, wherein adjuvant is N-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-5-chloro-2-hydroxy-benzamide.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the antigen comprises a polypeptide sequence of a pathogen.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the pathogen is a virus, bacteria, or fungus.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the antigen is a virus particle, viral envelope protein, an influenza hemagglutinin or neuraminidase.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the vaccine is a live, attenuated, or killed virus.

13. The method of claim 8 , wherein administration to skin is topical administration or intradermal administration.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein administration to skin is by syringe or microneedle.
