Abstract

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing content using notifications with content-specific keywords are provided. In one example embodiment, a method includes identifying, by one or more computing devices, a media content item for a user of a user device. The method includes generating, by the one or more computing devices, a keyword for the user of the user device based at least in part on data associated with the media content item. The keyword is indicative of the media content item. The method includes providing, by the one or more computing devices to the user device, for display a notification indicating that the media content is available for the user. The notification includes the keyword and the keyword is viewable by the user.

Claims (59)

1 . A computer-implemented method for providing content using notifications with content-specific keywords, comprising:

identifying, by one or more computing devices, a media content item for a user of a user device;

generating, by the one or more computing devices, a keyword for the user of the user device based at least in part on data associated with the media content item, the keyword being indicative of the media content item; and

providing, by the one or more computing devices to the user device, for display a notification indicating that the media content is available for the user, wherein the notification comprises the keyword and wherein the keyword is viewable by the user.

2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the keyword is based at least in part on the user's interest associated with the media content item.

3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, by the one or more computing devices, data descriptive of a user input, wherein the user input is indicative of the keyword; and

providing, by the one or more computing devices, the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the user input.

4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein providing the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the user input comprises:

identifying, by the one or more computing devices, one or more terms associated with the user input;

identifying, by the one or more computing devices, the keyword based at least in part on the one or more terms;

identifying, by the one or more computing devices, data descriptive of a reference from which the user can access the media content item based, at least in part, on the identified keyword; and

providing, by the one or more computing devices, the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the data descriptive of the reference.

5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the keyword is viewable by the user at a first time and wherein the user input is provided at a second time that is different than the first time.

6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

storing, by the one or more computing devices, the keyword and at least a portion of the notification, wherein the portion of the notification comprises data descriptive of a reference from which the user can access the media content item.

7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the notification comprises a notification payload and the stored portion of the notification is the notification payload.

8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 6 , wherein the keyword and the portion of the notification are stored for a time period, wherein the method further comprises:

removing, by the one or more computing devices, the keyword and the portion of the notification from storage after the time period.

9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating, by the one or more computing devices, the notification, wherein the notification includes the keyword indicative of the media content item and a notification payload that comprises data descriptive of a reference from which the user can access the media content item.

10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein generating, by the one or more computing devices, the keyword indicative of the media content item based at least in part on data associated with the media content item comprises:

determining, by the one or more computing devices, a topic associated with the media content item based at least in part on the data associated with the media content item; and

generating, by the one or more computing devices, the keyword based at least in part on the topic associated with the media content item.

11 . A system for providing content using notifications with content-specific keywords, the system comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or more memory devices, the one or more memory devices storing instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising:

identifying a media content item for a user of a user device;

generating a keyword for the user of the user device based at least in part on data associated with the media content item and the user's interest in the media content item, the keyword being indicative of the media content item; and

providing, to the user device, for display a notification indicating that the media content is available for the user, wherein the notification comprises the keyword and wherein the keyword is viewable by the user.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise:

storing the keyword and at least a portion of the notification, wherein the portion of the notification comprises data descriptive of a reference from which the user can access the media content item;

receiving data descriptive of a user input, wherein the user input is indicative of the keyword; and

providing the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the user input indicative of the keyword.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein providing the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the user input indicative of the keyword comprises:

identifying the stored keyword based at least in part on one or more terms associated with the user input;

identifying the data descriptive of the reference from which the user can access the media content item based at least in part on the identified stored keyword; and

providing the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the data descriptive of the reference.

14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein generating the keyword indicative of the media content item comprises:

determining a topic associated with the media content item based at least in part on the data associated with the media content item; and

generating the keyword based at least in part on the application of one or more canonicalization techniques to the topic associated with the media content item.

15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the user input is a voice input.

16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving data descriptive of the notification from another computing device, wherein the notification is indicative of the media content item; and

including the keyword associated with the media content item in the notification.

17 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise:

applying de-spamming logic to the received data descriptive of the notification, and wherein the keyword is generated after application of the de-spamming logic.

18 . One or more tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media storing computer-readable instructions that when executed by one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising:

identifying a media content item for a user of a user device;

generating a keyword for the user of the user device based at least in part on data associated with the media content item, the keyword being indicative of the media content item;

storing the keyword and data descriptive of a reference from which the user can access the media content item;

providing for display a notification indicating that the media content is available for the user, wherein the notification comprises the keyword and the reference;

receiving data descriptive of a user input, wherein the user input is indicative of the keyword; and

providing the user access to the media content item based at least in part on the user input.

19 . The one or more tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise:

removing the keyword and the reference from storage after a time period.

20 . The one or more tangible, non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 18 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving data descriptive of the notification from another computing device, wherein the received notification is indicative of the media content item; and

applying de-spamming logic to the received data descriptive of the notification, and wherein the de-spamming logic is based at least in part on the user's interaction with one or more previous notifications.
