Abstract

A method and electronic device. A short messaging service message is received at the communication device where the short messaging service message has a telephone number associated therewith. An input is detected at the communication device to display the short messaging service message. The short messaging service message is displayed on a message viewer of the communication device. The short messaging service message is displayed chronologically in association with at least one previously sent or previously received short messaging service message where the at least one previously sent or previously received short messaging service message each has an associated telephone number that matches the associated telephone number of the short messaging service message.

Claims (22)

1. A method at a communication device, the method comprising:

receiving a short message service message at the communication device, the short message service message having a telephone number associated therewith;

detecting an input at the communication device to display the short message service message; and

displaying the short message service message on a message viewer of the communication device, the short message service message being displayed chronologically in association with at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message, the at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message each having an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the short message service message.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service message, the at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service messages each having an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the short message service message.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the message viewer is a scrollable message viewer.

4. A communication device comprising:

a processor;

a memory communicatively coupled to the processor;

a message viewer;

a message receiver coupled to the processor that when operating receives a short message service message, the short message service message having a telephone number associated therewith

a message display processor coupled to the processor that when operating:

detects an input to display the short message service message; and

displays the short message service message on the message viewer, the short message service message being displayed chronologically in association with at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message where the at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message each has an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the short message service message.

5. The communications device of claim 4 , wherein the message display processor, when operating, further displays at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service message, the at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service messages each having an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the received short message service message.

6. The communications device of claim 4 , wherein the message viewer is a scrollable message viewer.

7. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising computer executable instructions for operating a communication device, the computer executable instructions comprising instructions for:

receiving a short message service message at the communication device, the short message service message having a telephone number associated therewith;

detecting an input at the communication device to display the short message service message; and

displaying the short message service message on a message viewer of the communication device, the short message service message being displayed chronologically in association with at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message, the at least one previously sent or previously received short message service message each having an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the short message service message.

8. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the computer executable instructions further comprise instructions for displaying at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service message, the at least one other previously sent or previously received short message service messages each having an associated telephone number that matches the telephone number of the short message service message.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the message viewer is a scrollable message viewer.
