Abstract

There is provided a 5,6-dihydro-4H-benzo[b]thieno-[2,3-d]azepine derivative which is useful in the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and for the prevention of disease associated with RSV infection. (Formula (1)).

Claims (14)

1. A compound of formula (I),

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. A method of treatment of RSV infection or disease associated with RSV infection in a subject which comprises administering to said subject an effective amount of the compound according to claim 1 .

3. A method of prevention of RSV infection or disease associated with RSV infection in a subject which comprises administering to said subject prior to infection an effective amount of the compound according to claim 1 .

4. A method according to claim 2 wherein the RSV infection is infection by viruses of the RSV A strain and/or viruses of the RSV B strain.

5. A method according to claim 2 wherein the treatment is in combination with a second or further active ingredient.

6. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound according to claim 1 optionally in combination with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable diluents or carriers.

7. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6 comprising the compound of formula (I) in particulate form suspended in an aqueous medium.

8. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6 which comprises a second or further active ingredient.

9. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 8 wherein the second or further active ingredient is selected from anti-viral agents and anti-inflammatory agents.

10. A composition according to claim 9 wherein the second or further active ingredient is selected from F protein inhibitors, RNA polymerase inhibitors and ribavirin.

11. A method according to claim 3 wherein the RSV infection is infection by viruses of the RSV A strain and/or viruses of the RSV B strain.

12. A method according to claim 4 wherein the RSV infection is infection by viruses of the RSV A strain.

13. A method according to claim 11 wherein the RSV infection is infection by viruses of the RSV A strain.
