Abstract

A method of producing a Pepper's Ghost, includes projecting an image of a subject onto a reflective and transparent screen to create a virtual image of the subject alongside an object, the subject in the virtual image having a color temperature. The object is illuminated with light having a color and intensity that results in a color temperature of the object at least approximately matching the color temperature of the subject in the virtual image. The subject in the virtual image has a luminance and may be illuminated with light having a color and intensity that results in a luminance of the object at least approximately matching the luminance of the subject in the virtual image.

Claims (12)

1. A method of producing a Pepper's Ghost, the method comprising:

projecting an image of a subject onto a reflective and transparent screen to create a virtual image of the subject to be perceived alongside an object;

illuminating the object with a lighting arrangement; and

maintaining a colour temperature of light that falls on the object by altering an intensity of light emitted by the lighting arrangement as the distance between the lighting arrangement and the object varies.

2. A method of producing a Pepper's Ghost, the method comprising;

projecting an image of a subject onto a reflective and transparent screen to create a virtual image of the subject to be perceived alongside an object, the subject in the virtual image having an angle of illumination;

illuminating the object with a lighting arrangement with light projected from the lighting arrangement having an angle of illumination at least approximately matching the angle of illumination of the subject in the virtual image; and

maintaining a colour temperature of the light that falls on the object by altering an intensity of light emitted by the lighting arrangement as the distance between the lighting arrangement and the object varies.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the subject in the virtual image has a luminance and illuminating the object comprises illuminating the object with light having a colour and intensity that results in a luminance of the object at least approximately matching the luminance of the subject in the virtual image.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the subject in the virtual image has a colour temperature and illuminating the object comprises illuminating the object with light having a colour and intensity that results in a colour temperature of the object at least approximately matching the colour temperature of the subject in the virtual image.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the object is a living entity such as a person or animal and the colour temperature is the colour temperature of the skin of the subject in the virtual image and the living entity.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the intensity of the light that falls on the object is altered by moving the lighting arrangement towards or away from the object whilst maintaining an intensity of light emitted by the lighting arrangement constant.
