Abstract

There is provided a light emitting device which enables a color display with good color balance. A triplet compound is used for a light emitting layer of an EL element that emits red color, and a singlet compound is used for a light emitting layer of an EL element that emits green color and a light emitting layer of an EL element that emits blue color. Thus, an operation voltage of the EL element emitting red color may be made the same as the EL element emitting green color and the EL element emitting blue color. Accordingly, the color display with good color balance can be realized.

Claims (61)

1. A light-emitting device comprising:

a substrate; and

a first light-emitting element, a second light-emitting element, and a third light-emitting element over the substrate,

wherein the first light-emitting element includes a first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting element includes a second light-emitting layer, and the third light-emitting element includes a third light-emitting layer,

wherein the first light-emitting layer comprises a first triplet compound capable of emitting red light,

wherein the second light-emitting layer comprises a second triplet compound capable of emitting green light,

wherein the third light-emitting layer comprises a singlet compound capable of emitting blue light, and

wherein an operation voltage of the first light-emitting element, an operation voltage of the second light-emitting element, and an operation voltage of the third light-emitting element are made the same as one another.

2. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer, and the third light-emitting layer do not overlap with one another.

3. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the first triplet compound and the second triplet compound contain iridium or platinum.

4. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein light emitting brightness of the first light-emitting element, the second light-emitting element, and the third light-emitting element is the same as one another.

5. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the light-emitting device is incorporated in one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, a digital camera, an image playback device, a personal computer, a mobile telephone, and a car mounted type audio.

6. A light-emitting device comprising:

a substrate;

a first transistor;

a second transistor;

a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first transistor;

a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second transistor;

a first light-emitting layer over the first pixel electrode;

a second light-emitting layer over the second pixel electrode;

an electrode over the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer; and

wherein the first light-emitting layer comprises a triplet compound capable of emitting red light, and

wherein the second light-emitting layer comprises a singlet compound capable of emitting blue light.

7. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , wherein the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer do not overlap with each another.

8. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , wherein the triplet compound contains iridium or platinum.

9. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , wherein the light-emitting device is incorporated in one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, a digital camera, an image playback device, a personal computer, a mobile telephone, and a car mounted type audio.

10. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 ,

wherein the first pixel electrode serves as an anode, and

wherein the second pixel electrode serves as an anode.

11. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , further comprising:

a first interlayer insulating film over the first transistor,

wherein the first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first transistor through a contact hole provided in the first interlayer insulating film.

12. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , further comprising:

a first interlayer insulating film over the first transistor; and

a second interlayer insulating film over the first interlayer insulating film,

wherein the first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first transistor through a first contact hole provided in the first interlayer insulating film and a second contact hole provided in the second interlayer insulating film, and

wherein the first contact hole overlaps with the second contact hole.

13. A light-emitting device comprising:

a substrate;

a first transistor;

a second transistor;

a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first transistor;

a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second transistor;

a first light-emitting layer over the first pixel electrode;

a second light-emitting layer over the second pixel electrode; and

an electrode over the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer,

wherein the first light-emitting layer comprises a triplet compound capable of emitting red light,

wherein the second light-emitting layer comprises a singlet compound capable of emitting blue light, and

wherein the red light and the blue light are irradiated toward a top surface of the electrode.

14. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , wherein the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer do not overlap with each another.

15. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , wherein the triplet compound contains iridium or platinum.

16. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , wherein the light-emitting device is incorporated in one selected from the group consisting of a video camera, a digital camera, an image playback device, a personal computer, a mobile telephone, and a car mounted type audio.

17. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , wherein the electrode serves as an anode.

18. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , further comprising:

a first interlayer insulating film over the first transistor,

wherein the first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first transistor through a contact hole provided in the first interlayer insulating film.

19. The light-emitting device according to claim 13 , further comprising:

a first interlayer insulating film over the first transistor; and

a second interlayer insulating film over the first interlayer insulating film,

wherein the first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first transistor through a first contact hole provided in the first interlayer insulating film and a second contact hole provided in the second interlayer insulating film, and

wherein the first contact hole overlaps with the second contact hole.
