Abstract

Various implementations include systems and methods for unlocking a door to a building on behalf of a tenant of the building that addresses the shortcomings of legacy telephone entry systems and allows for more efficient and safer management of building entry requests from third parties. In some implementations, the system taps into the legacy telephone entry systems to communicate with third parties seeking entry into the building. In some implementations, the system communicates with third party computing devices (e.g., stationary or mobile devices) to process entry requests. And, in some implementations, the system communicates entry preferences (or parameters) associated with a tenant with a door lock system to allow for entry during certain time windows or under certain conditions.

Claims (35)

1 - 27 . (canceled)

28 . A door entry system comprising:

a processor in communication with a memory and an intercom, wherein the processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory, said instructions cause the processor to:

receive a request to enter a building from the intercom;

receive sound input from the intercom;

compare the sound input with a plurality of predetermined access codes; and

in response to the sound input matching one of the predetermined access codes, cause a lock on a door to move into an unlocked position, wherein the lock and the door are associated with the intercom.

29 . The door entry system of claim 28 , further comprising a sound recognition module, the sound recognition module being configured for translating sound input into alpha-numerical data.

30 . The door entry system of claim 29 , wherein the sound input comprises voice input.

31 . The door entry system of claim 29 , wherein the intercom comprises a key pad, and the sound input comprises a dual-tone multi-frequency signal received from the key pad.

32 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein at least a portion of the predetermined access codes are associated with one or more service providers.

33 . The door entry system of claim 32 , wherein the service provider is a delivery service.

34 . The door entry system of claim 33 , wherein one of the predetermined access codes associated with the delivery service is printed on a shipping label associated with an item to be delivered by the delivery service.

35 . The door entry system of claim 32 , wherein the service provider is a home service provider.

36 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein each predetermined access code is associated with at least one person or at least one service provider, and the instructions cause the processor to generate and deliver a message to a user identifying the particular person or service provider that gains entry through the door.

37 . The door entry system of claim 36 , wherein the instructions cause the processor to change the predetermined access code associated with the at least one person or at least one service provider according to a predetermined schedule set by the user.

38 . The door entry system of claim 37 , wherein the predetermined schedule is selected from one of the following: weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly, and yearly.

39 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein the predetermined access code is a plurality of numbers, letters, or a combination thereof.

40 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein the predetermined access code is associated with a tenant that authorizes the predetermined access code and a guest that provides the access code to the intercom, and wherein the instructions cause the processor to generate and communicate a message to the tenant identifying the guest.

41 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein the predetermined access code comprises at least a portion of numbers of a unique identification number associated with a guest's mobile computing device.

42 . The door entry system of claim 41 , wherein the guest's mobile computing device is a mobile telephone and the unique identification number is a phone number associated with the mobile telephone.

43 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein the predetermined access code comprises at least a portion of numbers of a unique identification number associated with a tenant's mobile computing device.

44 . The door entry system of claim 43 , wherein the tenant's mobile computing device is a mobile telephone and the unique identification number is a phone number associated with the mobile telephone.

45 . The door entry system of claim 44 , wherein the predetermined access code further comprises one or more numbers uniquely identifying a guest.

46 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein causing the lock on the door to move into the unlocked position comprises generating and communicating a dual tone, multi-frequency (DTMF) code to the intercom.

47 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein in response to the sound input not matching one of the predetermined access codes, receive a request to contact a tenant to request entry and communicate the request to the tenant.

48 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein the instructions further cause the processor to generate and communicate a signal to a social media website, the signal including an identity of the tenant, credentials of the tenant for accessing the social media website, an identity of the guest requesting entry, and a message for posting to the social media website related to the guest's entry into the building, wherein the generation and communication of the signal to the social media website occurs in response to the sound input matching one of the predetermined access codes.

49 . The door entry system of claim 28 , wherein one or more of the predetermined access codes are associated with a time window, and the instructions further cause the processor to cause the lock on the door to move into the unlocked position in response to the sound input matching the one or more predetermined access codes and in response to the sound input being received during the associated time window.

50 . A door entry system comprising:

a processor in communication with a memory and an intercom, wherein the processor executes computer-readable instructions stored on the memory, said instructions cause the processor to:

receive sound input from the intercom;

compare the sound input with a plurality of stored voice fingerprints, each stored voice fingerprint being associated with a unique tenant; and

in response to the sound input matching one of the voice fingerprints, cause a lock on a door to move into an unlocked position, wherein the door is associated with the intercom.

51 . The door entry system of claim 50 , wherein causing the lock on the door to move into the unlocked position comprises generating and communicating a dual tone, multi-frequency (DTMF) code to the intercom.

52 .- 102 . (canceled)
