Abstract

An LED board mounting system includes a fixture frame having a planar surface and a plurality of alternating bosses disposed along a length of the fixture frame. The system also includes an LED board having a first side and a second side, a plurality of LEDs disposed along a length of the LED board on the first side, and a pair of electrical contacts coupled to the plurality of LEDs and mounted to the second side of the LED board and extending away from the second side. In addition, the LED board mounting system includes a first edge and opposing second edge of the LED board secured to the planar surface of the fixture frame between the plurality of alternating bosses, the second side of the LED board being adjacent to the planar surface of the fixture frame and the pair of electrical contacts extending through the planar surface.

Claims (31)

1. An LED board mounting system, the system comprising:

a fixture frame having a planar surface;

a plurality of alternating bosses disposed along a length of the planar surface of the fixture frame, each alternating boss comprising a protruding band formed form a hole punched through the planar surface of the fixture frame;

at least one LED board having a first side and a second side;

a plurality of LEDs disposed along a length of the at least one LED board on the first side;

a pair of electrical contacts coupled to the plurality of LEDs, and mounted to the second side of the at least one LED board and extending away from the second side; and

a first edge and opposing second edge of the at least one LED board secured to the planar surface of the fixture frame between the plurality of alternating bosses, the second side of the at least one LED board being adjacent to the planar surface of the fixture frame and the pair of electrical contacts extending through the planar surface.

2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising an additional LED board secured to the planar surface of the fixture frame, wherein the additional LED board being coupled to the pair of electrical contacts of the at least one LED board.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the additional LED board being longitudinally aligned with the at least one LED board on the planar surface of the fixture frame.

4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the additional LED board being secured spaced apart relation and in parallel orientation to the at least one LED board.

5. The system of claim 2 , wherein the additional LED board and the at least one LED board are electrically connected in series.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the pair of electrical contacts are configured to be connected to a power source.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of alternating bosses formed, from the planar surface of the fixture frame.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of LEDs are arranged in a substantially linear orientation on the first side of the at least one LED board.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one LED board comprises a dielectric substrate carrying the LEDs.

10. An LED board mounting system, the system comprising:

a fixture frame having a planar surface; a plurality of alternating bosses disposed along a length of the planar surface of the fixture frame and formed from the planar surface of the fixture frame, each alternating boss comprising a protruding band formed from a hole punched through the planar surface of the fixture frame;

an LED board secured between the plurality of alternating bosses by a first edge and an opposing second edge of the LED board;

a plurality of LEDs disposed along a length of the LED board; and

a pair of electrical contacts coupled to the plurality of LEDs and the pair of electrical contacts extending through the planar surface.

11. The system of claim 10 , further comprising an additional LED board secured to the planar surface of the fixture frame, wherein the additional LED board being coupled to the pair of electrical contacts of the LED board.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the additional LED board being longitudinally aligned with the LED board on the planar surface of the fixture frame.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the additional LED board being secured spaced apart relation and in parallel orientation to the LED board.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the additional LED board and the LED board are electrically connected in series.

15. The system of claim 10 , wherein the pair of electrical contacts are configured to be connected to a power source.

16. The system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of LEDs are arranged in a substantially linear orientation on a first side of the LED board.

17. The system of claim 10 , wherein the LED board comprises a dielectric substrate carrying the LEDs.

18. A method of mounting an LED board to a fixture frame, the LED board having a plurality of LEDs mounted thereon and a pair of electrical contacts connected thereto, the method comprising:

punching a hole through a planar surface of the fixture frame to form each of a plurality of alternating bosses on a first side of the fixture frame;

aligning a first edge and opposing second edge of the LED board between the plurality of alternating bosses, wherein, the LED board is adjacent to the first side of the planar surface of the fixture frame; and

securing the LED board to the fixture frame, the pair of electrical contacts extending through the planar surface.
