Abstract

Methods, systems, and products control external devices during presentation of multimedia content. When a description of the multimedia content is received, the description may include control data for controlling a device. The control data may thus be executed to alter a presentation of the multimedia content.

Claims (35)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a server, a request to stream an electronic content to a device;

retrieving, by the server, an electronic description of the electronic content;

retrieving, by the server, a textual control data for controlling a presentation of the electronic content;

adding, by the server, the textual control data to a data field in the electronic description; and

sending, by the server, the electronic description of the electronic content via the Internet to the device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising incorporating the textual control data into the electronic content.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising adding the textual control data to the electronic content.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising streaming the electronic content via the Internet to the device.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising muting the electronic content.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising censoring the electronic content.

7. A system, comprising:

a hardware processor; and

a memory device, the memory device storing code, the code when executed causing the hardware processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a request to stream an electronic content to a device;

retrieving an electronic description of the electronic content;

retrieving a textual control data associated with the electronic content, the textual control data for controlling a presentation of the electronic content;

adding the textual control data to a data field containing the electronic description; and

sending the electronic description and the textual control data via the Internet to the device.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise incorporating the textual control data into the electronic content.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise adding the textual control data to the electronic content.

10. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise muting the electronic content.

11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise adding the textual control data to a data field in the electronic description.

12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise censoring the electronic content.

13. A memory device storing code that when executed causes a hardware processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a request to stream electronic content to a device;

retrieving a data field containing an electronic description of the electronic content;

retrieving a textual control data associated with the electronic content, the textual control data for controlling a presentation of the electronic content;

adding the textual control data to the data field containing the electronic description of the electronic content; and

sending the electronic description having the textual control data added therein via the Internet to the device.

14. The memory device of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise incorporating the textual control data into the electronic content.

15. The memory device of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise adding the textual control data to the electronic content.

16. The memory device of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise streaming the electronic content via the Internet to the device.

17. The memory device of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise adjusting a sound associated with the electronic content.

18. The memory device of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise adding the textual control data to a data field in the electronic description.
