SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS BASED UPON VEHICLE SENSOR DATA
A system for detecting a vehicular crash (i) receives data from the at least one sensor; (ii) determines that a potential vehicular crash is imminent based upon the received data; and (iii) performs at least one action to reduce a severity of the potential vehicular crash prior to impact. As a result, at least one of the potential injuries to passengers and the potential damage to a vehicle involved in the potential vehicular crash is reduced.
1 . A computer system for detecting a vehicular crash, the computer system is associated with a vehicle and includes at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device, the at least one processor is programmed to:
receive external sensor data from at least one external sensor associated with the vehicle, wherein the at least one external sensor detects one or more objects surrounding the vehicle;
determine that a vehicular crash involving the vehicle is imminent based upon the external sensor data;
receive internal sensor data from at least one internal sensor of the vehicle to determine an occupant position and a direction of facing of at least one occupant of the vehicle;
compare i) the external sensor data and the internal sensor data to ii) a plurality of crash scenarios stored in a database of historical crash scenarios, the historical crash scenarios including sensor data associated with the historical crash scenarios;
generate a scenario model of the vehicular crash based upon the comparing;
determine, based upon the scenario model and prior to the vehicular crash, i) a recommended vehicle position of the vehicle that reduces a damage to the vehicle and ii) a recommended occupant position of the at least one occupant within the vehicle that reduces a severity of an injury to the at least one occupant;
determine, based upon the scenario model, a plurality of actions to be performed by the vehicle, prior to the vehicular crash, to position the vehicle in the recommended vehicle position, and position the at least one occupant in the recommended occupant position; and
instruct the vehicle to perform the plurality of actions, wherein a first action of the plurality of actions includes generating a sound through an audio system to cause the at least one occupant to change the direction of facing to an advantageous direction of facing and the occupant position to the recommended occupant position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the severity of the injury to the at least one occupant, and wherein a second action of the plurality of actions includes adjusting a current position of the vehicle to the recommended vehicle position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the damage to the vehicle.
2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to:
store a model of vehicular crashes; and
update the model of vehicular crashes based upon the external sensor data.

4 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the
recommended vehicle position further reduces the severity of the potential injury to the at least one occupant.
5 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle is further instructed to perform at least one of turning at least one wheel of the vehicle, raising or lowering at least a portion of the vehicle, and inflating a portion of the vehicle.

8 . A computer-based method for detecting a vehicular crash, the method implemented on an environment monitoring (“EM”) server associated with a vehicle and including at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device, the method comprising:
receiving external sensor data from at least one external sensor of the vehicle, wherein the at least one external sensor detects one or more objects surrounding the vehicle;
determining, at the EM server, that a vehicular crash involving the vehicle is imminent based upon the external sensor data;
receiving internal sensor data from at least one internal sensor of the vehicle to determine an occupant position and a direction of facing of at least one occupant of the vehicle;
comparing i) the external sensor data and the internal sensor data to ii) a plurality of crash scenarios stored in a database of historical crash scenarios, the historical crash scenarios including sensor data associated with the historical crash scenarios;
generating a scenario model of the vehicular crash based upon the comparing;
determining, based upon the scenario model and prior to the vehicular crash, i) a recommended vehicle position of the vehicle that reduces a damage to the vehicle and ii) a recommended occupant position of the at least one occupant within the vehicle that reduces a severity of an injury to the at least one occupant;
determining, based upon the scenario model, a plurality of actions to be performed by the vehicle, prior to the vehicular crash, to position the vehicle in the recommended vehicle position, and position the at least one occupant in the recommended occupant position; and
instruct the vehicle to perform the plurality of actions, wherein a first action of the plurality of actions includes generating a sound through an audio system to cause the at least one occupant to change the direction of facing to an advantageous direction of facing and the occupant position to the recommended occupant position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the severity of the injury to the at least one occupant, and wherein a second action of the plurality of actions includes adjusting a current position of the vehicle to the recommended vehicle position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the damage to the vehicle.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
store a model of vehicular crashes; and
updating the model of vehicular crashes based upon the external sensor data.

wherein the recommended vehicle position further reduces the severity of the injury to the at least one occupant.
12 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising instructing the vehicle to perform at least one of turning at least one wheel of the vehicle, raising or lowering at least a portion of the vehicle, and inflating a portion of the vehicle.

15 . At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, wherein when executed by at least one processor, the computer-executable instructions cause the processor to:
receive external sensor data from at least one external sensor of a vehicle, wherein the at least one external sensor detects one or more objects surrounding the vehicle;
determine that a vehicular crash involving the vehicle is imminent based upon the external sensor data;
receive internal sensor data from at least one internal sensor of the vehicle to determine an occupant position and a direction of facing of at least one occupant of the vehicle;
compare i) the external sensor data and the internal sensor data to ii) a plurality of crash scenarios stored in a database of historical crash scenarios, the historical crash scenarios including sensor data associated with the historical crash scenarios;
generate a scenario model of the vehicular crash based upon the comparing;
determine, based upon the scenario model and prior to the vehicular crash, i) a recommended vehicle position of the vehicle that reduces a damage to the vehicle and ii) a recommended occupant position of the at least one occupant within the vehicle that reduces a severity of an injury to the at least one occupant;
determine, based upon the scenario model, a plurality of actions to be performed by the vehicle, prior to the vehicular crash, to position the vehicle in the recommended vehicle position, and position the at least one occupant in the recommended occupant position; and
instruct the vehicle to perform the plurality of actions, wherein a first action of the plurality of actions includes generating a sound through an audio system to cause the at least one occupant to change the direction of facing to an advantageous direction of facing and the occupant position to the recommended occupant position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the severity of the injury to the at least one occupant, and wherein a second action of the plurality of actions includes adjusting a current position of the vehicle to the recommended vehicle position, prior to the vehicular crash, for reducing the damage to the vehicle.
16 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein the computer-executable instructions further cause the processor to:
store a model of vehicular crashes; and
update the model of vehicular crashes based upon the external sensor data.

recommended vehicle position further reduces the severity of the injury to the at least one occupant.
19 . The computer-readable storage media of claim 15 , wherein the vehicle is further instructed to perform at least one of turning at least one wheel of the vehicle, raising or lowering at least a portion of the vehicle, and inflating a portion of the vehicle.

21 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to:
determine, based upon the external sensor data and the internal sensor data, an extent of the damage to the vehicle; and
generate, based on the determined extent of the damage to the vehicle, an insurance claim associated with the vehicular crash.
22 . The computer system of claim 21 , wherein the processor is further programmed to:
transmit the insurance claim to a user computing device associated with the at least one occupant; and
receive a message from the user computing device, the message including one of an approval of the insurance claim and a denial of the insurance claim.
23 . The computer system of claim 22 , wherein the processor is further programmed to, in response to receiving the approval of the insurance claim, transmit the insurance claim to an insurance provider associated with an insurance policy covering the vehicle.
24 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to:
analyze the external sensor data to determine at least one environmental condition at a location of the vehicular crash; and
generate, based upon the determined at least one environmental condition, at least one of an insurance quote and an insurance discount associated with an insurance policy covering the vehicle.
25 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
determining, based upon the external sensor data and the internal sensor data, an extent of the damage to the vehicle; and
generating, based on the determined extent of the damage to the vehicle, an insurance claim associated with the vehicular crash.
26 . The method of claim 25 , further comprising:
transmitting the insurance claim to a user computing device associated with the at least one occupant; and
receiving a message from the user computing device, the message including one of an approval of the insurance claim and a denial of the insurance claim.
27 . The method of claim 26 , further comprising, in response to receiving the approval of the insurance claim, transmitting the insurance claim to an insurance provider associated with an insurance policy covering the vehicle.
28 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:
analyzing the external sensor data to determine at least one environmental condition at a location of the vehicular crash; and
generating, based upon the determined at least one environmental condition, at least one of an insurance quote and an insurance discount associated with an insurance policy covering the vehicle.
