Alkaloid compounds for treating depression, substance addictions, and indications associated with chronic inflammation
Alkaloid compounds described herein are useful for treating disorders associated with monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity, such as depression, pain, smoking cessation, and substance addictions, and/or for treating disorders associated with chronic or low-level inflammation. In some examples, compounds are effective for treating cancers, autoimmune disorders, and other disorders associated with inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS).
1. A compound selected from the group consisting of:
2-Pyridin-3-yl-2,3,4,7-tetrahydro-1H-azepine and 2-Pyridin-3-yl-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-azepine
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
2. A compound of claim 1 which is 2-(pyridin-3-yl)-2,3,4,7-tetrahydro-1H-azepine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
3. A composition comprising a compound of claim 2 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle therefor.
4. A compound of claim 1 which is 2-(pyridin-3-yl)-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-azepine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
5. A composition comprising a compound of claim 4 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle therefor.
