Proteins and nucleic acids useful in vaccines targeting
The present invention relates to proteins and nucleic acids derived from Klebsiella pneumonia as well as therapeutic and diagnostic uses of the proteins and nucleic acids.
1. A method for treatment or amelioration of infection with K. pneumoniae , in particular infection with multi-resistant K. pneumoniae , comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a monoclonal antibody which specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of
a) an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 2, or
b) an amino acid sequence, which is a fragment of SEQ ID NO: 2 consisting of amino acid residues 22-117.
2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody specifically binds to SEQ ID NO:2 residues 22-117.
3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody is selected from a multi-domain antibody and a single-domain antibody of a llama or a camel.
4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the multi-domain antibody is selected from a murine antibody, a humanized antibody, and a fully human antibody.
5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the monoclonal antibody specifically binds to SEQ ID NO: 2.
6. A method for treatment or amelioration of infection with K. pneumoniae , in particular infection with multi-resistant K. pneumoniae , comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody analogue, which specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of
a) an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 2, or
b) an amino acid sequence, which is a fragment of SEQ ID NO: 2 consisting of amino acid residues 22-117, wherein the antibody analogue is selected from an Fab or an F(ab′)2, and an scFV.
7. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the antibody analogue specifically binds to SEQ ID NO: 2.
8. The method according to claim 6 , wherein the antibody analogue specifically binds to amino acid residues 22-117 of SEQ ID NO: 2.
