Head-mounted display

1. A head-mounted display comprising:

a main body in which a display is built;

a wearing band extending from the main body to a rear side and having a shape enclosing a head of a user as a whole;

a right-side extending section configured to make up a right-side part of the wearing band;

a left-side extending section configured to make up a left-side part of the wearing band;

a movable section configured to make up a part of a rear side of the wearing band, link a rear section of the right-side extending section with a rear section of the left-side extending section, and be movable relative to the right-side extending section and the left-side extending section in a retracting direction in which the length of the wearing band is decreased and in an extending direction in which the length of the wearing band is increased;

a locking mechanism capable of switching the wearing band between an unlocked state in which movements of the movable section in the extending direction and the retracting direction are allowed and a locked state in which a movement of the movable section at least in the extending direction is restricted; and

a first manipulating member arranged on the movable section and positioned at a part of the rear side of the wearing band, the first manipulating member being able to be rotated via being manipulated by the user, wherein

the movable section is configured to be urged at least in the retracting direction in the unlocked state and moved in the retracting direction when the first manipulating member rotates in a first direction,

the movable section is configured to be urged and moved in the extending direction in the unlocked state when the first manipulating member rotates in a second direction,

the locking mechanism maintains the wearing band in the unlocked state when the first manipulating member rotates in the second direction, and

the locking mechanism switches the wearing band from the unlocked state to the locked state when the first manipulating member rotates in the first direction.

2. The head-mounted display according to claim 1 , wherein the wearing band has an elastic member that causes a force acting on the movable section in the retracting direction.

3. The head-mounted display according to claim 1 , wherein the elastic member is arranged along each of the right-side extending section and the left-side extending section, thereby pulling the movable section in the retracting direction.

4. The head-mounted display according to claim 1 , wherein

the wearing band includes a link member that rotates in a third direction when the movable section moves in the retracting direction and rotates in a fourth direction when the movable section moves in the extending direction, and

the locking mechanism allows movements of the link member in both the third direction and the fourth direction in the unlocked state and restricts a movement of the link member in the fourth direction in the locked state.

5. The head-mounted display according to claim 4 , wherein

the locking mechanism includes a one-way member that is allowed to rotate in the first direction when the link member rotates in the third direction and is restricted from rotating in a second direction when the link member rotates in the fourth direction, and

the locking mechanism links the link member with the one-way member in the locked state and releases the linkage between the link member and the one-way member in the unlocked state.

6. The head-mounted display according to claim 5 , wherein the locking mechanism links the link member with the one-way member when the one-way member moves in the first direction.

7. The head-mounted display according to claim 6 , wherein the one-way member is the first manipulating member.

8. The head-mounted display according to claim 5 , wherein

the link member and the one-way member are arranged on a common axial line, and

the locking mechanism includes a clutch member that moves between a locked position at which the clutch member engages with both the link member and the one-way member and an unlocked position at which the clutch member does not engage with at least one of the link member and the one-way member.

9. The head-mounted display according to claim 5 , further comprising: a second manipulating member configured to release the linkage between the one-way member and the link member, the second manipulating member being able to be manipulated by the user.

10. A head-mounted display comprising:

a main body in which a display is built;

a wearing band extending from the main body to a rear side and having a shape enclosing a head of a user as a whole;

a right-side extending section configured to make up a right-side part of the wearing band;

a left-side extending section configured to make up a left-side part of the wearing band;

a movable section configured to make up a part of a rear side of the wearing band, link a rear section of the right-side extending section with a rear section of the left-side extending section, and be movable relative to the right-side extending section and the left-side extending section in a retracting direction in which the length of the wearing band is decreased and in an extending direction in which the length of the wearing band is increased;

a locking mechanism capable of switching the wearing band between an unlocked state in which movements of the movable section in the extending direction and the retracting direction are allowed and a locked state in which a movement of the movable section at least in the extending direction is restricted; and

a first manipulating member arranged on the movable section and positioned at a part of the rear side of the wearing band, the first manipulating member being able to be rotated via being manipulated by the user, wherein

the movable section is configured to be urged at least in the retracting direction in the unlocked state and moved in the retracting direction when the first manipulating member rotates in a first direction,

the movable section is configured to be urged and moved in the extending direction in the unlocked state when the first manipulating member rotates in a second direction,

the locking mechanism maintains the wearing band in the unlocked state when the first manipulating member rotates in the second direction, and

the locking mechanism switches the wearing band from the unlocked state to the locked state when the first manipulating member rotates in the first direction.

11. The head-mounted display according to claim 10 , wherein

the wearing band has, on the movable section, a link member that engages with both the right-side extending section and the left-side extending section and cooperatively operates with a movement of the movable section relative to the right-side extending section and the left-side extending section,

the link member rotates in a third direction when the movable section moves in the retracting direction and rotates in a fourth direction when the movable section moves in the extending direction, and

the locking mechanism allows movements of the link member in both the third direction and the fourth direction in the unlocked state and restricts a movement of the link member in the fourth direction in the locked state.
