Abstract

The invention provides an LED package configured to generate blue LED package light, wherein the LED package comprises a solid state light source configured to generate blue light source light, a luminescent material configured to convert part of the light source light into luminescent material light comprising green light, and a blue pigment configured to absorb part of the luminescent material light.

Claims (22)

1. A LED package configured to generate blue LED package light, wherein the LED package comprises

a solid state light source configured to generate blue light source light,

a luminescent material configured to convert part of the light source light into luminescent material light comprising green light, and

a blue pigment configured to absorb part of the luminescent material light, wherein the luminescent material comprises one or more of:

(Lu (1-x) ,Ce x ) 3 (Al (1-y) ,Ga y ) 5 O 12 , with 0.005≤x≤0.08 and 0≤y≤0.7;

Si (6-x) Al x O y N (6-y) :Eu wherein 0<x≤4.2, 0≤y≤4.2 (beta sialon)

an alkaline earth metal orthosilicate doped with europium;

BaMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu,Mn;

BaMg 2 Al 16 O 27 :Eu,Mn; and

Sr 4 Al 14 O 25 :Eu.

2. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the CIE coordinates of the blue LED package light is in the range of 0.091-0.175 for the x-CIE coordinate, and in the range of 0.025-0.183 for the y-CIE coordinate.

3. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the CIE coordinates of the blue LED package light is within a part of the CIE diagram defined by (0.091, 0.133), (0.149, 0.025), (0.175, 0.098) and (0.174, 0.183), and wherein the x-CIE coordinate of the blue LED package light is at maximum 0.175 and wherein the y-CIE coordinate of the blue LED package light 10 is at minimum 0.140.

4. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the solid state light source is configured to generate blue light source light having a peak wavelength in the range of 450-465 nm.

5. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the luminescent material is configured to provide luminescent material light having a peak wavelength selected from the range of 490-530 nm and having a full width half maximum (FWHM) selected from the range of 50-150 nm.

6. The LED package according claim 1 , wherein the luminescent material comprises a cerium doped garnet.

7. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the blue pigment comprises an organic dye having a color index international number selected from the range of 42,000-45,000.

8. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the blue pigment comprises phthalocyanine.

9. The LED package according to claim 1 , wherein the blue pigment comprises one or more of (a) MAl 2 O4, wherein M comprises one or more of Co, Ni, Mg, Cu and Zn, wherein M at least comprises Co, and (b) Na x Al 6 Si 6 O 24 S y , wherein 6≤x≤8 and 2≤y≤4.

10. The LED package according to claim 1 , comprising a first layer comprising said luminescent material, and a second layer comprising said blue pigment, wherein relative to the solid state light source the second layer is configured downstream of the first layer.

11. The LED package according to claim 1 , comprising a first layer comprising said luminescent material and said blue pigment.

12. A lighting device comprising the LED package according to claim 1 , and a control unit, and one or more of (a) optics, and (b) a further light source, wherein the control unit is configured to control the LED package and the optional further light source.

13. A method comprising using the LED package according to claim 1 , for providing blue emergency lighting or for providing decorative lighting.
