Abstract

An X-ray system includes a first structure on which an X-ray source and/or an X-ray detector is provided, a second structure, a stepper motor that moves the first structure relative to the second structure, an incremental rotary encoder, and a control unit. The stepper motor includes a rotor shaft coupled with the first structure such that when a user exerts an external force on the first structure, an angular position of the rotor shaft is changed in accordance with the exerted external force. The incremental rotary encoder is coupled with the rotor shaft of the stepper motor and generates an encoder signal in accordance with the change of the angular position of the rotor shaft. The control unit determines, based on the encoder signal, a position deviation signal characterizing a deviation of the angular position of the rotor shaft from a reference angular position of the rotor shaft and controls the stepper motor to rotate the rotor shaft dependent on the position deviation signal such that the stepper motor supports a movement of the first structure relative to the second structure in accordance with the exerted external force.

8 . An X-ray system comprising:

a first structure on which an X-ray source and/or an X-ray detector is provided;

a second structure;

a stepper motor that moves the first structure relative to the second structure, the stepper motor including a rotor shaft coupled to the first structure such that when a user exerts an external force on the first structure, an angular position of the rotor shaft is changed in accordance with the external force exerted on the first structure;

an incremental rotary encoder coupled to the rotor shaft of the stepper motor and that generates an encoder signal in accordance with an amount of change of the angular position of the rotor shaft; and

a controller configured or programmed to determine, based on the encoder signal, a position deviation signal defining a deviation of the angular position of the rotor shaft from a reference angular position of the rotor shaft, and to control the stepper motor to rotate the rotor shaft dependent on the position deviation signal such that the stepper motor assists a movement of the first structure relative to the second structure in accordance with the external force exerted on the first structure.

9 . The X-ray system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured or programmed to determine whether the position deviation signal exceeds a predefined value and, if the position deviation signal exceeds the predefined value, to control the stepper motor to rotate the rotor shaft dependent on the position deviation signal such that the stepper motor assists the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure in accordance with the exerted external force.

10 . The X-ray system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured or programmed to control the stepper motor to rotate the rotor shaft dependent on a directional sign of the position deviation signal such that the stepper motor assists the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure in accordance with a direction of the external force exerted on the first structure.

11 . The X-ray system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured or programmed:

to determine, based on the encoder signal generated during the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure, an angular velocity of the rotor shaft and whether the angular velocity of the rotor shaft exceeds or falls below a predefined value; and

if the angular velocity of the rotor shaft exceeds or falls below the predefined value, to control the stepper motor to stop assisting the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure.

12 . The X-ray system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured or programmed:

to determine, based on the encoder signal generated during the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure, an angular velocity of the rotor shaft and whether the angular velocity of the rotor shaft exhibits a decrease that exceeds a predefined value; and

if the decrease of the angular velocity of the rotor shaft exceeds the predefined value, to control the stepper motor to stop assisting the movement of the first structure relative to the second structure.

13 . The X-ray system according to claim 8 , wherein the controller is configured or programmed to generate a reference position signal corresponding to an initial reference angular position of the rotor shaft.

14 . A method for operating an X-ray system including a first structure on which an X-ray source and/or an X-ray detector is provided, a second structure, and a stepper motor including a rotor shaft coupled to the first structure, the method comprising the steps of:

changing an angular position of the rotor shaft in accordance with an external force exerted on the first structure by a user;

generating an encoder signal with an incremental rotary encoder coupled to the rotor shaft of the stepper motor in accordance with an amount of change of the angular position of the rotor shaft;

determining, based on the encoder signal, a position deviation signal defining a deviation of the angular position of the rotor shaft from a reference angular position of the rotor shaft; and

controlling the stepper motor to rotate the rotor shaft dependent on the position deviation signal such that the stepper motor assists a movement of the first structure relative to the second structure in accordance with the external force exerted on the first structure.
