Abstract

A computer-implemented method and apparatus, the method comprising: responsive to a user of a mobile device selecting a specific application, starting a parent application with a parameter associated with the specific application, wherein the parent application is configured to provide a functionality of the specific application; retrieving from a local database in the mobile device a configuration of the specific application, wherein the configuration comprises a set of modules used by the specific application and a manner of usage thereof; and activating the set of modules to provide the functionality of the specific application by the parent application.

Claims (20)

1. An executable computer program product comprising an executable file retained by a non-transitory computer readable medium, capable of tangibly embodying program instructions, wherein the executable file comprising program instructions to be executed by a mobile device,

wherein said executable file is configured to provide a functionality of two or more specific applications, each of which associated with a different business entity, wherein said executable file is configured to provide the functionality of each of the two or more specific applications through a use of one or more modules as defined by a configuration associated with each specific application;

wherein upon execution, said executable file is configured to provide a functionality of a selected specific application out of the two or more specific applications, based on a parameter identifying the selected specific application;

wherein said executable file is configured to retrieve, using the parameter identifying the selected specific application, a configuration of the selected specific application in response to the execution of the executable, wherein the configuration describes for the executable file a manner to provide the functionality of the selected specific application through a use of the one or more modules;

wherein said executable file is configured to activate the one or more modules to provide the functionality of the selected specific application, whereby the functionality of the selected specific application is provided by the executable file and without using a dedicated executable for the selected specific application.

2. The executable file of claim 1 , wherein the one or more modules comprise an “about” module providing details about an entity, and a chat module.

3. The executable file of claim 1 , wherein the functionality of the selected specific application described in the configuration is a location from which items to be displayed by the one or more modules are obtained.

4. The executable file of claim 1 , wherein the functionality of the selected specific application described in the configuration is a content of the one or more modules.

5. The executable file of claim 1 , wherein the executable file is configured to provide a functionality of displaying the two or more specific applications when the executable file is executed without being provided any parameter identifying any of the two or more specific applications.

6. A mobile device comprising a processor and a memory, wherein said memory retaining the executable file of claim 1 .

7. A method performed by a mobile device executing an executable file, wherein the executable file is configured to provide a functionality of two or more specific applications, each of which associated with a different business entity, wherein said executable is configured to select a functionality of which of the two or more specific applications to provide based on a parameter identifying a selected specific application, wherein said executable file is configured to provide the functionality of each of the two or more specific applications, through a use of one or more modules as defined by a configuration associated with each specific application, wherein said method comprising:

in response to a user of the mobile device selecting an icon representing the selected specific application, executing the executable file in a manner configured to provide a functionality of the selected specific application;

retrieving, using the parameter identifying the selected specific application, a configuration of the selected specific application in response to said executing, wherein the configuration describes for the executable file a manner to provide the functionality of the selected specific application through a use of the one or more modules;

activating the one or more modules to provide the functionality of the selected specific application, whereby the functionality of the selected specific application is provided by the executable file and without using a dedicated executable for the selected specific application.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the one or more modules comprise an “about” module displaying details about an entity and a chat module.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the functionality of the selected specific application described in the configuration is a location from which items to be displayed by the one or more modules are obtained.

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the functionality of the selected specific application described in the configuration is a content of the one or more modules.

11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the executable file is configured to provide a functionality of displaying the two or more specific applications when the executable file is executed without being provided any parameter identifying any of the two or more specific applications.

12. The method of claim 7 , wherein said retrieving is performed from a local storage within the mobile device, whereby the selected specific application can be executed without having network connectivity.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising: in response to a determination that the mobile device has network connectivity to a server, updating the local storage with a configuration update from the server.
