Abstract

A method of treating a T-cell mediated disease in a subject by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds to CD6 is described. Humanized antibodies useful for the method are also described.

Claims (11)

1. A humanized antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof having binding specificity for CD6, wherein the humanized antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO 2, a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 3 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 4, or a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 5 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 6.

2. The humanized antibody of claim 1 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 1, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 2.

3. The humanized antibody of claim 1 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 3, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 4.

4. The humanized antibody of claim 1 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 5, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 6.

5. A kit comprising a humanized antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds to CD6 wherein the humanized antibody or fragment thereof comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO 2, a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 3 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 4, or a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 5 and a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 6, and a package for holding the antibody.

6. The kit of claim 5 , further comprising instructions for using the kit to carry out a method of treating a T-cell mediated disease or disorder in a subject by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of the humanized antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds to CD6.

7. The kit of claim 6 , wherein the disease is an autoimmune disease.

8. The kit of claim 6 , wherein the T-cell mediated disease is multiple sclerosis.

9. The kit of claim 6 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 1, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 2.

10. The kit of claim 6 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 3, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 4.

11. The kit of claim 6 , wherein the humanized antibody comprises a heavy chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 5, a light chain comprising SEQ ID NO: 6.
