Abstract

A computer system dynamically generates data relating to advertisement placement opportunities based on attributes of an audience for those placement opportunities, such as television programs watched by the audience. The computer system enables such advertisement placement opportunity data to more accurately reflect the value of the environment for placing advertisements.

(A) the at least one computer processor receiving, from an attribute data source, while an inventory source device is delivering video content to a recipient, data representing at least one attribute of the recipient, wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises at least one of:

at least one television program watched by the recipient;

an amount of time spent by the recipient watching television during a particular time period; and

a characteristic of the recipient; and

(B) the at least one computer processor generating pricing data based on the at least one attribute of the recipient.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

(C) before (B), the at least one computer processor receiving, from the inventory source device, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, data representing at least one attribute of the inventory source; and

wherein (B) comprises the at least one computer processor generating, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, the pricing data based on the at least one attribute of the recipient and the at least one attribute of the inventory source.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises a device category of the inventory source device.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises a mode via which the inventory source device is capable of delivering content.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises an attribute of a screen for displaying visual output from the inventory source device.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises the location of the recipient.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises the at least one television program watched by the recipient.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises a television network of the at least one television program watched by the recipient.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises a daypart of the at least one television program watched by the recipient.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises the amount of time spent by the recipient watching television during a particular time period.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pricing data comprises data representing a bid floor price for an advertisement placement opportunity.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the pricing data comprises data representing a bid price for an advertisement placement opportunity.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises:

(C) providing the pricing data to a bid evaluation component.

14 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

(C) before (B), the at least one computer processor receiving, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, data representing an attribute of the video content; and

wherein (B) comprises the at least one computer processor generating, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, the pricing data based on the at least one attribute of the recipient and the attribute of the video content.

15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the inventory source device comprises a television.

16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the inventory source device comprises a computer.

17 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer program instructions executable by at least one computer processor to perform a method, the method comprising:

(A) the at least one computer processor receiving, from an attribute data source, while an inventory source device is delivering video content to a recipient, data representing at least one attribute of the recipient, wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises at least one of:

at least one television program watched by the recipient;

an amount of time spent by the recipient watching television during a particular time period; and

a characteristic of the recipient; and

(B) the at least one computer processor generating pricing data based on the at least one attribute of the recipient.

18 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the method further comprises:

(C) before (B), the at least one computer processor receiving, from the inventory source device, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, data representing at least one attribute of the inventory source; and

wherein (B) comprises the at least one computer processor generating, while the inventory source device is delivering the video content to the recipient, the pricing data based on the at least one attribute of the recipient and the at least one attribute of the inventory source.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises a device category of the inventory source device.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises a mode via which the inventory source device is capable of delivering content.

21 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the at least one attribute of the inventory source device comprises an attribute of a screen for displaying visual output from the inventory source device.

22 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises the location of the recipient.

23 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises the at least one television program watched by the recipient.

24 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the at least one attribute of the recipient comprises a television network of the at least one television program watched by the recipient.
