Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads
Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a bottom portion, a top portion with a crown portion having an opening, and a cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the opening. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.
1. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, the crown portion having an opening,
a cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the opening, the cover portion including a plurality of layer portions comprising a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion and including a third material,
wherein the first material and the second material are more rigid than the third material and
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material.
2. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first material and the second material include the same material.
3. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first material and the second material include a graphite composite material.
4. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
5. A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the hollow body portion includes an interior cavity and an elastic polymer insert at least partially filling the interior cavity, and wherein the elastic polymer insert includes a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.
6. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion including an interior cavity, the hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion, the crown portion having at least one opening into the hollow body portion;
at least one cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the at least one opening, the at least one cover portion including a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion including a third material different from the first material and the second material, and
an elastic polymer material at least partially filling the interior cavity of the hollow body portion,
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material.
7. A golf club head as defined in claim 6 further comprising at least one inner support portion extending from an inner surface of the bottom portion into the hollow body portion.
8. A golf club head as defined in claim 6 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
9. A golf club head as defined in claim 6 , wherein the crown portion includes a reinforcement portion at the at least one opening.
10. A golf club head as defined in claim 6 , wherein the first material and the second material include a graphite composite material.
11. A golf club head as defined in claim 6 , wherein and the elastic polymer material includes an elastic polymer insert at least partially filling the interior cavity, and wherein the elastic polymer insert includes a plurality of hexagonal recesses in a honeycomb configuration.
12. A golf club head comprising:
a hollow body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion with a crown portion, and a bottom portion;
wherein at least a portion of the crown portion includes a first layer portion including a first material, a second layer portion including a second material, and a third layer portion disposed between the first layer portion and the second layer portion and including a third material,
wherein the first material and the second material are more rigid than the third material, and
wherein the third material includes an elastic polymer material.
13. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 , wherein the at least a portion of the crown portion includes at least one recess and at least one cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover the at least one recess, the at least one cover portion including a plurality layer portions comprising the first layer portion, the second layer portion, and the third layer portion.
14. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 , wherein the at least a portion of the crown portion includes a plurality of openings and a plurality of cover portions, each cover portion configured to couple to the crown portion to cover an opening of the plurality of openings, each cover portion including a plurality layer portions comprising the first layer portion, the second layer portion, and the third layer portion.
15. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 further comprising a plurality of weight portions and a plurality of ports on the bottom portion, each port of the plurality of ports configured to receive a weight portion of the plurality of weight portions.
16. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 , wherein the hollow body portion includes an interior cavity and an elastic polymer material at least partially filling the interior cavity.
17. A golf club head as defined in claim 12 further comprising a hosel assembly comprising a hosel on the top portion, and a sleeve extending from the hosel into the hollow body portion, the sleeve having an outer wall, wherein the outer wall of the portion of the sleeve that is in the hollow body portion is exposed to a hollow interior of the hollow body portion.
