Abstract

A pharmaceutical composition containing isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered to an individual in need thereof for treating a substance addiction, inclusive of affecting smoking substitution, eliminating cravings for tobacco and nicotine, or transitioning individuals away from smoking or the use of other tobacco products. In some examples, the therapeutic agent(s) are administered in a capsule, tablet, or lozenge. In other examples, the therapeutic agent(s) are administered via a chewing gum, inhalation spray, e-cigarette, nasal spray, or transdermal patch.

Claims (19)

1. A method of treating a tobacco addiction comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle therefor, wherein said effective amount reduces or eliminates craving for nicotine or dependence on nicotine.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance addiction is smoking addiction.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the substance addiction is smokeless tobacco addiction.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered via a capsule, tablet, or lozenge.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered via an inhaler or e-cigarette.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered transmucosally.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered as a chewable gum.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered via a nasal spray.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered via a transdermal patch.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount from about 5 mg to about 1,500 mg.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount from about 10 mg to about 1,200 mg.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount from about 50 mg to about 1,000 mg.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains isomyosmine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount from about 100 mg to about 850 mg.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition further comprises a second therapeutic agent.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the second therapeutic agent comprises an anti-inflammatory compound.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the second therapeutic agent comprises nicotine.

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains the second therapeutic agent in an amount from about 5 mg to about 1,500 mg.

18. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains the second therapeutic agent in an amount from about 10 mg to about 1,200 mg.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains the second therapeutic agent in an amount from about 50 mg to about 1,000 mg.
