Abstract

A work vehicle with a metering system, airflow system, and a covering structure moveable between various positions for user access includes features that facilitate assembly and/or disassembly of the metering system. The work vehicle has a venturi structure with a plurality of venturi tubes that are disposed in a compact arrangement.

Claims (25)

1. A work vehicle comprising:

a commodity container;

a volumetric metering assembly configured to meter a commodity by volume out from the commodity container along an axis;

a fan and an airflow structure that defines at least one air passage for an airstream at least in part from the fan, the airflow structure supported for movement relative to the volumetric metering assembly between a first position and a second position,

the airflow structure, in the first position, configured to receive units of the commodity travelling generally along the axis to be introduced into the airstream;

the airflow structure, in the second position, being spaced away from the volumetric metering assembly to provide unobstructed access to the volumetric metering assembly along the axis in an upstream direction.

2. The work vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the work vehicle includes a frame;

wherein the airflow structure includes a plenum and a venturi structure that are mounted on a first support structure;

wherein the first support structure is moveably attached to the frame for moving the plenum and the venturi structure between the first position and the second position.

3. The work vehicle of claim 2 , wherein the volumetric metering assembly includes a rotatable metering element and a commodity tube that are mounted on a second support structure, wherein the commodity tube defines the axis;

wherein the second support structure is moveably attached to the frame for moving the rotatable metering element and the commodity tube relative to the frame.

4. The work vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the work vehicle includes a fore-aft axis and a vertical axis;

wherein the volumetric metering assembly and the airflow structure are disposed proximate a rear end of the work vehicle;

wherein the airflow structure is configured to move generally in a forward direction along the fore-aft axis when moving from the first position to the second position;

wherein the volumetric metering assembly, with the airflow structure in the second position, includes an underside that is disposed at a height measured along the vertical axis from a ground surface, the height being at least approximately sixty-five inches.

5. A work vehicle comprising:

a frame defining a front end and a rear end;

a commodity container that is supported on the frame and that is configured to hold a commodity;

a volumetric metering assembly disposed proximate the rear end of the frame, the volumetric metering assembly including a rotatable metering element configured to rotate to meter out the commodity by volume from the commodity container; and

an airflow system that is disposed proximate the rear end of the frame, the airflow system including a fan and an airflow structure configured to receive the commodity metered out from the volumetric metering assembly, the airflow structure including a plenum and a venturi, the plenum configured to deliver an airstream at least in part from the fan to the venturi, the venturi configured to accelerate the airstream with the commodity therein away from the work vehicle;

the volumetric metering assembly being manually accessible at the rear end of the work vehicle.

6. The work vehicle of claim 5 , wherein the airflow structure is supported for movement relative to the volumetric metering assembly between a first position and a second position;

wherein the airflow structure, in the first position, is configured to receive the commodity into the airstream; and

wherein the airflow structure, in the second position, is spaced forward relative to the rear end and spaced away from the rotatable metering element to provide unobstructed access to the volumetric metering assembly to allow a receptacle to be placed beneath the volumetric metering assembly.

7. The work vehicle of claim 5 , further comprising a ground engaging tool that is spaced forward relative to the rear end and spaced away from the rotatable metering element along a fore-aft axis to provide unobstructed access to the volumetric metering assembly.
