Abstract

The invention relates to the identification of gene products that are the result of tumor-associated expression and the nucleic acids encoding the same. The invention also relates to the therapy and diagnosis of diseases wherein these gene products are the result of an aberrant tumor-associated expression. The invention also relates to the proteins, polypeptides and peptides that are the result of tumor-associated expression and to the nucleic acids encoding the same.

Claims (8)

1. A method of detecting a cancer cell characterized by expressing a tumor-associated antigen consisting of SEQ ID NO: 72, which method comprises detecting or quantifying in a tumor tissue sample isolated from a human patient a nucleic acid which encodes the tumor-associated antigen consisting of SEQ ID NO: 72;

wherein the detecting or quantifying comprises:

(i) extracting total RNA from the tumor tissue sample;

(ii) transcribing extracted RNA from step (i) into cDNA;

(iii) amplifying the cDNA from step (ii) utilizing PCR with a primer pair specific for a region of the nucleic acid that encodes the tumor-associated antigen consisting of SEQ ID NO: 72 to thereby detect the nucleic acid;

wherein the primer pair comprises SEQ ID NO: 93 and SEQ ID NO: 94; and the detection of the nucleic acid is indicative for the presence of a cancer cell.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancer cell is from a cancer tissue which is selected from the group consisting of breast, lung, ear, nose, throat, esophagus, ovary, cervix, skin, prostate, kidney, colon, stomach, pancreas, liver, and uterus.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancer cell is a breast cancer cell.
