Abstract

There is provided an ink-jet recording apparatus including: a transporting roller; a driven roller provided opposite the transporting roller to sandwich the recording medium between the driven roller and the transporting roller, while moving in an approaching-departing direction based on a thickness of the recording medium; a first biasing member biasing the driven roller to the transporting roller; a platen; a recording portion configured to jet ink droplets from nozzles; and a cooperative portion moving along with the movement of the driven roller in the approaching-departing direction to move the platen.

Claims (17)

1. An ink-jet recording apparatus comprising:

a transporting roller;

a driven roller facing the transporting roller to sandwich a recording medium between the driven roller and the transporting roller and to transport the recording medium in a first direction,

a roller holder rotatably supporting the driven roller and configured to move in an approaching-departing direction, along which the driven roller approaches and departs from the transporting roller, based on a thickness of the recording medium sandwiched between the driven roller and the transporting roller;

a first biasing member biasing the roller holder toward the transporting roller;

a recording portion located downstream of a sandwich point between the driven roller and the transporting roller and including a recording head having nozzles which eject ink droplets;

a support member located below the recording portion and configured to support the recording medium, wherein the support member includes a plurality of projecting portions projecting toward the recording portion and arranged in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction;

a plurality of extending portions extending toward the support member and arranged in the second direction, wherein each of lower ends of the plurality of extending portions is lower than a lower surface of the recording head in a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions; and

a cooperative portion configured to change a distance between the plurality of projecting portions and the plurality of extending portions with respect to the approaching-departing direction in cooperation with movement of the roller holder.

2. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the cooperative portion comprising a contact portion disposed at the roller holder, and

wherein the contact portion is configured to, when the roller holder moves away from the transporting roller, press the support member and change the distance between the plurality of projecting portions and the plurality of extending portions in the approaching-departing direction.

3. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprises a second biasing member biasing the support member toward the plurality of extending portions.

4. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of extending portions is positioned upstream of the nozzles in the first direction.

5. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of extending portions does not overlap the nozzles in an upper view.

6. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of projecting portions extends in the first direction.

7. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of extending portions extends in the first direction.

8. The ink-jet recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the plurality of extending portions is configured to form a corrugated shape in the recording medium in conjunction with the plurality of projecting portions.
