Abstract

A method of producing oil, gas, and ash fertilizer from a feedstock includes inputting the feedstock into a reaction chamber having a wall, and combusting the feedstock in the reaction chamber. An electrical current flow is induced between the reaction chamber wall and the feedstock so as to cause arcing in the feedstock within the reaction chamber. Ash reaction byproducts migrate downward through the reaction chamber onto ash support structure, which is substantially electrically isolated from the reaction chamber wall. Gas and liquid reaction byproducts migrate upward through the reaction chamber to an upper chamber by a partial vacuum in the upper chamber, and are evacuated therefrom. The oil and gas are then separated from the evacuated gas/liquid products, providing the oil and the gas products. The oil is refinable, the gas is high in energy content, and the ash fertilizer is high in nitrogen.

Claims (17)

1. A reformer apparatus, comprising:

a chamber having an upper outer wall portion and a lower base portion;

an inner wall disposed within said chamber, an upper portion of said inner wall being connected to said chamber to form an inner chamber and an outer chamber, the outer chamber comprising a thermal insulator formed by at least a partial vacuum produced by withdrawal of material from above a top opening of the inner chamber;

at least one stirring member disposed within the inner chamber;

plural cross members disposed within the inner chamber and connected to the inner wall, but not touching any stirring member disposed within the inner chamber wall;

an ash support member disposed within said chamber below a lower reformer opening, but electrically insulated therefrom, and wider than the inner wall; and

at least one processor configured to cause arcing in reaction products within the chamber.

2. The reformer apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause the arcing to disassociate at least one molecule into at least two atoms.

3. The reformer apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause a reformer apparatus oil output to comprise hydrocarbon compounds produced in said arcing.

4. A reformer apparatus, comprising:

a chamber having an upper outer wall portion and a lower base portion;

an inner wall disposed within said chamber, an upper portion of said inner wall being connected to said chamber to form an inner chamber and an outer chamber, the outer chamber comprising a thermal insulator formed by at least a partial vacuum produced by withdrawal of material from above a top opening of the inner chamber;

at least one stirring member disposed within the inner chamber;

plural cross members disposed within the inner chamber and connected to the inner wall, but not touching any stirring member disposed within the inner chamber wall;

an ash support member disposed within said chamber below a lower reformer opening, but electrically insulated therefrom, and wider than the inner wall; and

at least one processor configured to cause formation of multiple layers of feedstock in the chamber, and wherein reaction products within the chamber comprise at least: a feedstock layer; an electrolysis layer; a charcoal layer; a carbonate layer; and an ash layer.

5. The reformer apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause the carbonate layer to comprise a plasma zone.
