Abstract

To facilitate client access to web services, a server may be configured to package or bundle a function call for a web service with associated information. The resulting function call package may be distributed to multiple clients. Such a package may include parameters for the function call and/or software code that can facilitate a client web site to make the function call. The package may also include branding information associated with the web service. Results of the function call can be presented through the client web site with the branding information associated with the web service, allowing a third party to retain branding for their web service provided through the client web site.

interacting with a user via the second web site displayed on a user device;

collecting information relating to the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

making the function call, with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, to access the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer;

receiving, by the first server computer, the function call with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer;

processing, by the first server computer, the function call using the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, the processing of the function call generating a result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

returning, to the second server computer by the first server computer, the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer, wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer is presented within the second web site displayed on the user device such that the function or service is provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer through the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer without the user leaving the second web site hosted by the second server computer.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer and presented within the second web site displayed on the user device is formatted by the second server computer according to formatting information in the function call package from the first server computer.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer comprises partner credentials associated with the second web site.

4. The method according to claim 3 , wherein the partner credentials represent authorization that allows the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer to make the function call to access the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer.

5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one input, output, or return parameter of the function call is defined or formatted in web services description language.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the function call and the result are communicated between the first server computer and the second server computer via Simple Object Access Protocol.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the result comprises a confirmation that the function or service has been provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer.

8. A system, comprising:

a first server computer having a processor, a non-transitory computer memory, and stored instructions embodied on the non-transitory computer memory and translatable by the processor to perform:

providing a function call package to a second server computer, the first server computer hosting a first web site, the second server computer hosting a second web site, the function call package comprising at least one input, output, or return parameter for making a function call to obtain a function or service provided by the first web site, the second server computer operating a process within the second web site, the process having functionality provided by the function call package from the first server computer, the functionality of the process comprising:

interacting with a user via the second web site displayed on a user device;

collecting information relating to the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

making the function call, with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, to access the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer;

receiving the function call with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer;

processing the function call using the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, the processing of the function call generating a result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

returning, to the second server computer, the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer, wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer is presented within the second web site displayed on the user device such that the function or service is provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer through the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer without the user leaving the second web site hosted by the second server computer.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer and presented within the second web site displayed on the user device is formatted by the second server computer according to formatting information in the function call package from the first server computer.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer comprises partner credentials associated with the second web site.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein the partner credentials represent authorization that allows the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer to make the function call to access the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer.

12. The system of claim 8 , wherein the at least one input, output, or return parameter of the function call is defined or formatted in web services description language.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the function call and the result are communicated between the first server computer and the second server computer via Simple Object Access Protocol.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the result comprises a confirmation that the function or service has been provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer.

15. A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions translatable by a first server computer to perform:

providing a function call package to a second server computer, the first server computer hosting a first web site, the second server computer hosting a second web site, the function call package comprising at least one input, output, or return parameter for making a function call to obtain a function or service provided by the first web site, the second server computer operating a process within the second web site, the process having functionality provided by the function call package from the first server computer, the functionality of the process comprising:

interacting with a user via the second web site displayed on a user device;

collecting information relating to the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

making the function call, with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, to access the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer;

receiving the function call with the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer;

processing the function call using the information collected by the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer, the processing of the function call generating a result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer; and

returning, to the second server computer, the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer, wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer is presented within the second web site displayed on the user device such that the function or service is provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer through the process operating within the second web site hosted by the second server computer without the user leaving the second web site hosted by the second server computer.

16. The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the result of the function or service provided by the first web site hosted by the first server computer and presented within the second web site displayed on the user device is formatted by the second server computer according to formatting information in the function call package from the first server computer.
