Abstract

The present invention is a projectile and target lawn game that calls to mind the sport of bowling. The lawn game disclosed herein uses a number of pins that are magnetically attracted to a board as the target. The projectiles are preferably beanbags that a player tosses at the pins.

Claims (28)

1 . A projectile and target game, comprising:

a target component and one or more projectiles;

where said target component is further comprised of a game board with an upper surface and lower surface and one or more removable targets with a first end and distal end;

where said first end of each target is magnetically attracted to at least one location on the upper surface of said game board while said game is being played.

2 . The projectile and target game of claim 1 wherein said targets are further comprised of a height measured from the first end to the distal end, and a width measured on a plane normal to the height, where said height is greater than said width.

3 . The projectile and target game of claim 2 wherein said targets are cylindrical in shape between the first end and the distal end.

4 . The projectile and target game of claim 3 wherein said targets are further comprised of a midpoint between the first end and the distal end where the diameter of the target decreases at a fixed rate from a point between the midpoint and the first end and the first end and from a point between the midpoint and the distal end and the distal end.

5 . The projectile and target game of claim 4 wherein each target is further comprised of a magnet fixed at a distance E from said first end.

6 . The projectile and target game of claim 5 wherein said game board is further comprised of one or more magnets fixed at a distance C from said upper surface and oriented so as to magnetically attract the magnet(s) contained in said target(s).

7 . The projectile and target game of claim 6 where said magnetic attraction, when a target is placed upright on a magnetized location on said game board so that the first end of said target is facing downward, is capable of causing said target to return to the upright position after the distal end is displaced at an angle of less than ten degrees from upright.

8 . The projectile and target game of claim 6 where said magnetic attraction, when a target is placed upright on a magnetized location on said game board so that the first end of said target is facing downward, is capable of causing said target to return to the upright position after the distal end is displaced at an angle of less than twenty degrees from upright.

9 . The projectile and target game of claim 3 wherein said cylindrical shape continuously and marginally changes in diameter between the first end and the distal end

10 . A method of playing a projectile and target game, the method comprising:

placing a game board with an upper surface that is magnetized in one or more area, at a first location;

marking a foul line at a predetermined distance from said game board;

placing one or more targets with a first end and distal end, that is further magnetized near said first end, on the upper surface of said game board substantially over a magnetized area, causing the first end of each target to be magnetically attracted to the upper surface of the game board;

where a first player stands at a location where said foul line is located between said first player and said first location;

where said first player throws one or more projectiles in the direction of the game board, with the intention of knocking the targets over; and

where said first player records a score based on the number of targets that were knocked over.

11 . The method of claim 10 wherein said game board is magnetized at ten areas on said upper surface and where ten targets are placed so that the first end of each target is placed on a different magnetized area on said game board.

12 . The method of claim 11 wherein said projectiles are further comprised of a flexible enclosure with a granular fill.

13 . The method of claim 12 wherein said projectiles are further comprised of three projectiles, thrown singularly.

14 . A projectile and target game, comprising:

a target component and one or more projectiles;

where said target component is further comprised of a game board with an upper surface and lower surface and a plurality of removable elongate targets with a first end and second end;

where a magnet is fixed towards the first end of each target;

where said gameboard is further comprised of a plurality of magnets below or flush with the plane of the upper surface and oriented so as to magnetically attract the magnets contained in the targets; and

where said first end of each target is magnetically attracted to at least one location on the upper surface of said game board while said game is being played.
