Abstract

An adsorption device for compressed gas, is provided with a vessel with an inlet for the supply of a compressed gas to be treated, and an outlet for treated gas and an adsorption element is affixed in the vessel. The adsorption element extends along the flow direction of the compressed gas to be treated, between the inlet and the outlet. The adsorption element has a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent.

Claims (47)

1. A compressor system comprising:

a compressor for compressing gas; and

an adsorption device connected to the compressor and configured to receive the compressed gas,

said adsorption device comprising:

a regeneration zone and an adsorption zone, wherein at least an outlet of the regeneration zone is connected to an inlet of the adsorption zone,

at least one vessel provided in the regeneration zone and/or the adsorption zone, said at least one vessel comprising the inlet for the supply of the compressed gas to be treated at a first end of the at least one vessel, and the outlet for treated gas at a second end of the at least one vessel, and

an adsorption element affixed in the at least one vessel,

wherein the adsorption element extends along a flow direction of the compressed gas to be treated, between the inlet at the first end and the outlet at the second end,

wherein the adsorption element comprises a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent, and

wherein a number of adsorption elements are placed in a series in the at least one vessel along the flow direction of the gas, said adsorption elements are stacked on one another and a seal is provided between every two adsorption elements placed on one another.

2. The compressor system according to claim 1 , wherein the monolithic supporting structure comprises one or more of the following materials: ceramic material, metal foil, a fibre structure and a polymer.

3. The compressor system according to claim 2 , wherein the monolithic supporting structure consists of a ceramic structure that contains cordierite.

4. The compressor system according to claim 1 , wherein the adsorbent comprises one or more of the following materials: a zeolite, silica gel, activated alumina, activated carbon, metal-organic frameworks, an impregnated adsorbent and a hybrid adsorbent.

5. The compressor system according to claim 4 , wherein the adsorbent contains a hydrophilic zeolite.

6. The compressor system according to claim 4 , wherein the adsorbent contains faujasite zeolite type X.

7. The compressor system according to claim 1 , wherein the seal extends over a respective peripheral edge of the adsorption elements placed on one another.

8. The compressor system according to claim 1 , wherein a shrink sleeving is affixed over a peripheral wall of at least a part of a stack of adsorption elements.

9. The compressor system according to claim 8 , wherein the shrink sleeving consists of an elastic material that is not very permeable to gas.

10. The compressor system according to claim 9 , wherein the shrink sleeving is made of polyolefin.

11. The compressor system according to claim 1 , wherein the coating further comprises a binder material.

12. The compressor system according to claim 11 , wherein the binder material comprises one or more of the following inorganic binder materials: colloidal silica; alumina; and/or clay.

13. The compressor system according to claim 11 , wherein the binder material comprises one or more of the following organic binder materials: methyl cellulose; polymers; and/or another material of the cellulose group.

14. A cartridge consisting of a stack of adsorption elements for an adsorption device for compressed gas,

wherein each adsorption element comprises a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent,

wherein said adsorption elements are stacked on one another and wherein a seal is provided between every two adsorption elements placed on one another,

wherein the seal extends over a respective peripheral edge of the adsorption elements placed on one another, and

wherein the seal is provided with at least one radial lip turned inwards that extends between the adsorption elements.

15. The cartridge according to claim 14 , wherein a shrink sleeving is affixed over a peripheral wall of at least a part of the stack of adsorption elements.

16. The cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the shrink sleeving consists of an elastic material that is not very permeable to gas.

17. The cartridge according to claim 15 , wherein the shrink sleeving is made of polyolefin.

18. The cartridge according to 14 , wherein the seal extends over a respective peripheral edge of the adsorption elements placed on one another.

19. An adsorption device for compressed gas, comprising:

a vessel with an inlet for the supply of a compressed gas to be treated, and an outlet for treated gas, and

an adsorption element affixed in the vessel,

wherein the adsorption element extends along a flow direction of the compressed gas to be treated, between the inlet and the outlet,

wherein the adsorption element comprises a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent, and

wherein a number of adsorption elements are placed in a series in the vessel along the flow direction of the gas, said adsorption elements are stacked on one another and a seal is provided between every two adsorption elements placed on one another,

wherein the seal extends over a respective peripheral edge of the adsorption elements placed on one another, and

wherein the seal is provided with at least one radial lip turned inwards that extends between the adsorption elements.

20. An adsorption device for compressed gas comprising:

a vessel with an inlet for the supply of a compressed gas to be treated, and an outlet for treated gas, and

an adsorption element affixed in the vessel,

wherein the adsorption element extends along a flow direction of the compressed gas to be treated, between the inlet and the outlet,

wherein the adsorption element comprises a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent, and

wherein a number of adsorption elements are placed in a series in the vessel along the flow direction of the gas, said adsorption elements are stacked on one another and a seal is provided between every two adsorption elements placed on one another,

wherein the seal extends over a respective peripheral edge of the adsorption elements placed on one another, and

wherein the seal is provided with two radial V-shaped lips turned inwards, that extend between the adsorption elements placed on one another.
