Abstract

Articles, such as sanitary tissue products, including fibrous structures, and more particularly articles including fibrous structures having a plurality of fibrous elements wherein the article exhibits differential cellulose content throughout the thickness of the article and methods for making same are provided.

Claims (20)

1. A multi-ply article comprising:

a. a first ply comprising: a first plurality of wood pulp fibers and a plurality of spun polymeric filaments, wherein a first portion of the first plurality of wood pulp fibers are in the form of a first wet laid fibrous structure and a second portion of the first plurality of wood pulp fibers are commingled together with at least a portion of the plurality of the plurality of spun polymeric filaments in the form of a coform fibrous structure, wherein the portion of the plurality of spun polymeric filaments in the form of the coform fibrous structure are spun from a die and directly laid on top of the first wet laid fibrous structure and

b. a second ply comprising a second wet laid fibrous structure comprising a second plurality of wood pulp fibers, wherein the second wet laid fibrous structure is bonded to the first wet laid fibrous structure; and

wherein the multi-ply article is void of a hydroentangled fibrous web.

2. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the first and second plurality of wood pulp fibers are selected from the group consisting of: northern softwood kraft pulp fibers, southern softwood kraft pulp fibers, northern hardwood pulp fibers, tropical hardwood pulp fibers, and mixtures thereof.

3. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein the multi-ply article further comprises a trichome fiber.

4. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the first and second wet laid fibrous structures further comprises an ab sorb ent gel material.

5. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the first and second wet laid fibrous structures further comprises a surface having a surface pattern.

6. The multi-ply article according to claim 5 wherein the surface pattern comprises one or more relatively high density regions and one or more relatively low density regions.

7. The multi-ply article according to claim 5 wherein the surface pattern comprises one or more relatively high elevation regions and one or more relatively low elevation regions.

8. The multi-ply article according to claim 5 wherein the surface pattern comprises one or more relatively high basis weight regions and one or more relatively low basis weight regions.

9. The multi-ply article according to claim 5 wherein the surface pattern is a non-random, repeating pattern.

10. The multi-ply article according to claim 5 wherein the surface pattern comprises a plurality of discrete regions dispersed throughout a continuous network.

11. The multi-ply article according to claim 10 wherein at least a portion of the plurality of discrete regions exhibits a value of a common intensive property that is different from the value of the common intensive property exhibited by the continuous network.

12. The multi-ply article according to claim 11 wherein the common intensive property is selected from the group consisting of: density, bulk, basis weight, and mixtures thereof.

13. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein at least one of the plurality of spun polymeric filaments comprises a thermoplastic polymer.

14. The multi-ply article according to claim 13 wherein the thermoplastic polymer is a polyolefin.

15. The multi-ply article according to claim 14 wherein the polyolefin is polypropylene.

16. The multi-ply article according to claim 1 wherein the multi-ply article further comprises at least one meltblown fibrous structure that forms at least one of the exterior surfaces of the multi-ply article.

17. The multi-ply article according to claim 13 wherein the thermoplastic polymer is selected from the group consisting of: polyesters, nylons, polyolefins, biodegradable thermoplastic polymers, compostable thermoplastic polymers, and mixtures thereof.
