Abstract

A method is provided for detecting an access zone configuration of a downlink wireless transmission received from a wireless network by a receiver. The method includes steps of activating the receiver, synchronizing the receiver with the wireless network, detecting, by the receiver after the step of synchronizing, a received access zone of the downlink wireless transmission, determining a base symbol of the detected access zone, ascertaining a first gap and a second gap from repetitive information contained within the determined base symbol, concluding, from the ascertained first and second gaps, that the detected access zone is part of a multiple access zone configuration, and registering, after the step of concluding, the receiver with the wireless network.

Claims (26)

1. A method of embedding fast signaling information into a plurality of frequency gaps separating different numerology access zones of a multiple access zone architecture in a wireless network, the method comprising the steps of:

introducing the fast signaling information into a plurality of first slots of a first gap of the plurality of gaps, wherein the first gap precedes a first access zone of the multiple access zone structure;

embedding, into a plurality of second slots of a second gap of the plurality of gaps, a time-shifted repetition of the fast signaling information introduced into the plurality of first slots,

wherein the second gap is disposed between the first access zone and a second access zone of the multiple access zone architecture, and wherein the first access zone has a different numerology than the second access zone, and

wherein the fast signaling information in the plurality of first slots in the first gap of a first symbol points to a position in the second gap of a second symbol following the first symbol.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the introduced fast signaling information includes a plurality of pseudo-noise sequences utilizing one or more constant amplitude zero auto-correlation functions.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the constant amplitude zero auto-correlation functions comprise at least one Zadoff Chu sequence having an original root.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the introduced fast signaling information includes a plurality of signaling subcarriers disposed between a first and a second plurality of adjacent guard subcarriers.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the time-shifted repetition includes the original root Zadoff Chu sequence modified by a delta lag value.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the original root Zadoff Chu sequence is disposed within the first three slots of the plurality of first slots, and wherein the time-shifted repetition is disposed within a fourth sequential slot of the plurality of second slots.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the delta lag value is selected to be greater than an expected synchronization time associated with a cell radius of a receiver of the wireless network.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the fast signaling information is introduced by a PHY architecture of a transmitter of the wireless network.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the fast signaling information is detectable by a PHY layer of a receiver of the wireless network, and wherein the receiver PHY layer compares the detected fast signaling information with a lookup table.

10. A method of embedding fast signaling information into a plurality of frequency gaps separating different numerology access zones of a multiple access zone architecture in a wireless network, the method comprising the steps of:

introducing the fast signaling information into a plurality of first slots of a first gap of the plurality of gaps, wherein the first gap precedes a first access zone of the multiple access zone structure;

embedding, into a plurality of second slots of a second gap of the plurality of gaps, a time-shifted repetition of the fast signaling information introduced into the plurality of first slots,

wherein the second gap is disposed between the first access zone and a second access zone of the multiple access zone architecture, and wherein the first access zone has a different numerology than the second access zone,

wherein the introduced fast signaling information includes a plurality of pseudo-noise sequences utilizing one or more constant amplitude zero auto-correlation functions,

wherein the constant amplitude zero auto-correlation functions comprise at least one Zadoff Chu sequence having an original root,

wherein the time-shifted repetition includes the original root Zadoff Chu sequence modified by a delta lag value, and

wherein the original root Zadoff Chu sequence is disposed within the first three slots of the plurality of first slots, and wherein the time-shifted repetition is disposed within a fourth sequential slot of the plurality of second slots.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the introduced fast signaling information includes a plurality of signaling subcarriers disposed between a first and a second plurality of adjacent guard subcarriers.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the delta lag value is selected to be greater than an expected synchronization time associated with a cell radius of a receiver of the wireless network.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein the fast signaling information in the plurality of first slots in the first gap of a first symbol points to a position in the second gap of a second symbol following the first symbol.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the fast signaling information is introduced by a PHY architecture of a transmitter of the wireless network.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the fast signaling information is detectable by a PHY layer of a receiver of the wireless network, and wherein the receiver PHY layer compares the detected fast signaling information with a lookup table.
