Abstract

A device may obtain information. The information may represent a distance between a first user device and a second user device. The first user device and the second user device may share a destination address. The device may receive a first message associated with a call. The first message may be received based on the call having been made to the destination address. The device may determine, based on the information, whether to provide a second message associated with the call or a notification associated with the call. The device may selectively provide the second message or the notification based on determining whether to provide the second message or the notification.

Claims (82)

1. A user device, comprising:

a memory storing instructions; and

one or more processors to execute the instructions to:

obtain information,

the information being based on a distance between the user device and another user device, and

the user device and the other user device sharing a destination address; receive a message associated with a call,

the message being received based on the call having been made to the destination address;

determine, based on the information, whether to provide a notification of the call; and

selectively provide the notification of the call based on determining whether to provide the notification of the call,

the notification of the call being provided by the user device and not being provided by the other user device when at least one of:

the distance between the user device and the other user device does not satisfy a threshold distance, or

a profile associated with the destination address indicates that the user device should provide the notification of the call.

2. The user device of claim 1 , where the one or more processors, when obtaining the information, are to:

determine a signal strength based on a signal between the user device and the other user device;

where the one or more processors are further to:

determine whether the signal strength satisfies a signal threshold; and

where the one or more processors, when determining whether to provide the notification of the call, are to:

determine whether to provide the notification of the call based on whether the signal strength satisfies the signal threshold.

3. The user device of claim 1 , where a notification of another call is provided by the user device and the other user device when the distance between the user device and the other user device satisfies the threshold distance.

4. The user device of claim 1 , where the one or more processors are further to:

determine a notification type to be provided; and

where the one or more processors, when selectively providing the notification of the call, are to:

selectively provide a notification of the notification type.

5. The user device of claim 4 , where the notification type includes at least one of:

an audible notification,

a vibration, or

a visual notification.

6. The user device of claim 4 , where the one or more processors, when determining the notification type, are to:

determine the notification type to be provided based on the profile.

7. The user device of claim 1 , where the one or more processors, when selectively providing the notification of the call, are to:

selectively provide a notification of a particular notification type based on the distance between the user device and the other user device not satisfying the threshold distance.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:

one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the one or more processors to:

obtain information,

the information being based on a distance between a first user device and a second user device, and

the first user device and the second user device sharing a destination address;

receive a message associated with a call,

the message being received based on the call having been made to the destination address;

determine, based on the information, to send the message to the first user device;

determine whether to send the message to the second user device based on the distance; and

selectively send the message to the second user device based on whether the distance satisfies a threshold distance,

the message being sent to the first user device and not the second user device based on the distance not satisfying the threshold distance.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the information is based on a signal strength measured at at least one of the first user device or the second user device.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the one or more instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

determine that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance; and

permit the first user device to send a notification based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the one or more instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

determine that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance; and

permit the second user device to provide a notification based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the one or more instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

determine that the distance between the first user device and the second user device does not satisfy the threshold distance; and

determine that the second user device is not to provide a notification based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device does not satisfy the threshold distance.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the one or more instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

determine that the distance between the first user device and the second user device does not satisfy the threshold distance;

permit the first user device to provide a first notification of a first type based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device does not satisfy the threshold distance; and

permit the second user device to provide a second notification of a second type based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device does not satisfy the threshold distance.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , where the one or more instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to:

determine that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance;

permit the first user device to provide a first notification of a particular type based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance; and

permit the second user device to provide a second notification of the particular type based on determining that the distance between the first user device and the second user device satisfies the threshold distance.

15. A method, comprising:

obtaining, by a device, distance information,

the distance information representing a distance between the device and another device, and

the device and the other device sharing a destination address;

receiving, by the device, a message associated with a call,

the message being received based on the call having been made to the destination address;

determining, by the device and based on the distance information, whether to provide a notification associated with the call; and

selectively providing, by the device, the notification based on determining whether to provide the notification,

the notification being provided by the other device and not being provided by the device when at least one of:

the distance between the device and the other device does not satisfy a threshold distance, or

a profile associated with the destination address indicates that the other device should provide the notification.

16. The method of claim 15 , where selectively providing the notification comprises:

providing the notification based on the distance between the device and the other device satisfying the threshold distance.

17. The method of claim 15 , where the notification is a first notification of a first type; and

providing a second notification of a second type based on the distance between the device and the other device not satisfying the threshold distance.

18. The method of claim 15 , where the other device is permitted to provide the notification when the distance between the device and the other device does not satisfy the threshold distance.

19. The method of claim 15 , where selectively providing the notification comprises:

providing the notification based on the distance between the device and the other device satisfying the threshold distance,

the notification being permitted to be provided by the other device based on the distance between the device and the other device satisfying the threshold distance.
