Abstract

According to one embodiment, A display device includes a first substrate includes an inorganic insulating film, a first wiring formed above the inorganic insulating film, an organic insulating film located above the inorganic insulating film and the first wiring, and a driver electrically connected to the first wiring, a second substrate opposing the first substrate, and a sealant fixing the first substrate and the second substrate, wherein the sealant comprises a first seal portion formed along a first edge of the first substrate and a second seal portion which crosses the first seal portion, and the first seal portion has a first width, and the second seal portion has a second width, the first width being greater than the second width.

Claims (14)

1. A display device comprising:

a first substrate having a rectangular shape and comprising an inorganic insulating film, a wiring formed above the inorganic insulating film, an organic insulating film located above the inorganic insulating film and the wiring, and a circuit portion electrically connected to the wiring;

a second substrate opposing the first substrate and having a rectangular shape smaller than the first substrate; and

a sealant fixing the first substrate and the second substrate,

wherein the sealant is formed along an edge side of the first substrate,

the organic insulating film includes:

a groove portion formed along the edge side of the first substrate in a region overlapping the sealant, and

a removed area extended over two edge sides of the second substrate at a corner portion of the second substrate; and

the first substrate comprises an island portion formed of the same material with the organic insulating film in the removed area.

2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the removed area is formed into a triangle comprising an oblique side.

3. The display device of claim 2 , wherein the wiring is foamed along the groove portion and the oblique side of the removed area, and is not formed in the removed area.

4. The display device of claim 3 , wherein the wiring is an outermost circumferential wiring arranged at an outermost circumference of the first substrate, and a distance from an end of the wiring on the groove portion side to an end of the organic insulating film, which faces the groove portion, is 10 μm or more.

5. The display device of claim 1 , further comprising a spacer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate in a region where an end of the first substrate and an end of the second substrate oppose each other.

6. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the inorganic insulating film is disposed at a bottom of the groove portion.
