POWER-STAGE ANTENNA INTEGRATED SYSTEM WITH HIGH-STRENGTH SHAFT
A microwave antenna assembly includes proximal and distal radiating sections and a junction member. The proximal radiating section includes inner and outer conductors and DC power and neutral conductors. The inner conductor is disposed within the outer conductor and the DC power and neutral conductors are disposed radially outward therefrom. The junction member mates the distal and proximal radiating sections such that the distal and proximal radiating sections are positioned relative to one another. The junction member further includes a microwave signal amplifier (MSA) that receives a signal at a first energy level from the inner and outer conductors and a DC power signal from the DC power and neutral conductors. The MSA amplifies the signal from the first energy level to an additional, greater energy level. The junction member provides the microwave signal at the additional energy level to the proximal and distal radiating sections.

16 . A microwave power-stage device for delivering microwave energy, comprising:
a delivery device handle configured to be coupled to a power supply;
a handle transmission line extending through a proximal portion of the delivery device handle;
a device transmission line having a proximal portion extending through a distal portion of the delivery device handle; and
a cylindrical amplifier interconnecting the handle transmission line and the device transmission line, the cylindrical amplifier is configured to amplify a microwave signal received from the handle transmission line.
17 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , wherein the cylindrical amplifier is disposed within a space defined between the proximal and distal portions of the delivery device handle.
18 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , wherein the cylindrical amplifier is a field-effect transistor.
19 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , further comprising an amplifier support supporting the cylindrical amplifier in the delivery device handle.
20 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 19 , wherein the amplifier support includes a cooling element configured to cool the cylindrical amplifier.
21 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 20 , wherein the cooling element is configured to receive a cooling fluid from a cooling fluid supply and to actively cool the cylindrical amplifier.
22 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , wherein the handle transmission line is a heat sink configured to absorb thermal energy emitted by the cylindrical amplifier.
23 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , further comprising a pair of leads extending through the proximal portion of the delivery device handle and coupled to the cylindrical amplifier.
24 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 23 , wherein the cylindrical amplifier mechanically couples the pair of leads to the device transmission line.
25 . The microwave power-stage device of claim 16 , further comprising a microwave antenna connected to a distal portion of the device transmission line.
