Abstract

A method for handing off diagnostic test results to a telemedicine provider is provided. The method comprises receiving diagnostic test results in response to a diagnostic test, determining if the diagnostic test results include a positive result, storing the diagnostic test results on a server disposed on a network, sending the diagnostic test results from the server to the telemedicine provider, sending additional medical history information to the telemedicine provider, and initiating a telemedicine conference with the telemedicine provider.

Claims (40)

1. A method for diagnostic image processing and handing off diagnostic test results to a telemedicine provider, comprising:

receiving a diagnostic test identifier from a mobile device, wherein the diagnostic test identifier is particular to a medical diagnostic testing device;

determining, by a server disposed on a network, diagnostic test results of a diagnostic test, including:

performing image processing on a digital image of the medical diagnostic testing device captured by the mobile device, wherein the digital image includes a plurality of digital pixels,

determining RGB color values of digital pixels of the digital image, wherein the digital pixels are in a test line area of the digital image,

determining certain ones of the digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image to have an RGB color value that defines the certain ones of the digital pixels as outliers as compared to other digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image,

ignoring the certain ones of the digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image determined to be outliers from remaining digital pixels of the digital image, such that the remaining digital pixels number less than the digital pixels,

creating a normalized value from the RGB color values of the remaining digital pixels, the normalized value representing an average of the RGB color values of the remaining pixels,

storing clinical test data associated with other normalized test values of a plurality of users,

adjusting threshold risk levels based on the clinical test data and the other normalized test values,

determining a risk level of the normalized value based on the threshold risk levels, and

outputting the determined risk level as at least a portion of the diagnostic test results;

determining, by the server, if the diagnostic test results include a positive result;

storing the diagnostic test results on the server;

if the diagnostic test results are determined to include the positive result:

initiating, by the server, a telemedicine conference between the mobile device and the telemedicine provider,

sending the diagnostic test results that are determined to include the positive result from the server to the telemedicine provider responsive to initiation of the telemedicine conference; and

sending additional medical history information from the server to the telemedicine provider responsive to the initiation of the telemedicine conference.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of sending the additional medical history information further comprises sending at least one of past medical records, history of a user, past test results, and insurance information.

3. A system for diagnostic image processing and handing off diagnostic test results to a telemedicine provider, comprising:

a server coupled to a network;

a memory coupled to the server, the memory storing a plurality of instructions for execution by the server to configure the server to:

receive a diagnostic test identifier from a mobile device, wherein the diagnostic test identifier is particular to a medical diagnostic testing device;

determine diagnostic test results of a diagnostic test, including:

perform image processing on a digital image of the medical diagnostic testing device captured by the mobile device, wherein the digital image includes a plurality of digital pixels,

determine RGB color values of digital pixels of the digital image, wherein the digital pixels are in a test line area of the digital image,

determine certain ones of the digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image to have an RGB color value that defines the certain ones of the digital pixels as outliers as compared to other digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image,

ignore the certain ones of the digital pixels in the test line area of the digital image determined to be outliers from remaining digital pixels of the digital image, such that the remaining digital pixels number less than the digital pixels,

create a normalized value from the RGB color values of the remaining digital pixels, the normalized value representing an average of the RGB color values of the remaining pixels,

store clinical test data associated with other normalized test values of a plurality of users,

adjust threshold risk levels based on the clinical test data and the other normalized test values,

determine a risk level of the normalized value based on the threshold risk levels, and

output the determined risk level as at least a portion of the diagnostic test results;

determine if the diagnostic test results include a positive result;

store the diagnostic test results on the server disposed on the network;

if the diagnostic test results are determined to include the positive result:

initiate, by the server, a telemedicine conference between the mobile device and the telemedicine provider,

send the diagnostic test results that are determined to include the positive result from the server to the telemedicine provider responsive to initiation of the telemedicine conference; and

send additional medical history information from the server to the telemedicine provider responsive to the initiation of the telemedicine conference.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the instructions further configure the server to send at least one of past medical records, history of a user, past test results, and insurance information.
