Abstract

One embodiment of the present invention is a nested fermentation method for making a beverage, such as an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beer, a wine, or the like, the method comprising the steps of: creating a first solution, wherein creating the first solution comprises fermenting first fermentation ingredients; creating a second solution, wherein creating the second solution comprises removing a first portion of alcohol from the first solution; creating a third solution, wherein creating the third solution comprises removing a first portion of water from the second solution; creating a fourth solution, wherein creating the fourth solution comprises adding second fermentation ingredients to the third solution and fermenting the second fermentation ingredients in the third solution.

Claims (33)

1. A method for making a solution that can be used to generate a beverage, the method comprising:

creating a first solution, wherein creating the first solution comprises performing a first fermentation process on a first wort;

creating a first bottom product by removing a first top product from the first solution, wherein the first top product includes alcohol removed from the first solution;

creating a second solution, wherein creating the second solution comprises adding a second wort to the first bottom product and performing a second fermentation process on the second wort in the first bottom product; and

creating a second bottom product by removing a second top product from the second solution, wherein the second top product includes alcohol removed from the second solution.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

creating a third solution, wherein creating the third solution comprises adding aromatics to the second bottom product.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein creating the third solution further comprises adding alcohol to the second bottom product.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

creating a third solution, wherein creating the third solution comprises adding a third wort to the second bottom product and performing a third fermentation process on the third wort in the second bottom product; and

creating a third bottom product by removing a third top product from the third solution, wherein the third top product includes alcohol removed from the third solution.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

creating a fourth solution, wherein creating the fourth solution comprises adding aromatics to the third bottom product.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first top product includes alcohol and aromatics from the first solution.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second top product includes alcohol and aromatics from the second solution.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein creating a first bottom product comprises using vacuum distillation.

9. The method of claim 2 , wherein at least a portion of the aromatics are aromatics from the first top product.

10. A method of making a solution, the method comprising:

creating a first solution, wherein creating the first solution comprises fermenting first fermentation ingredients;

creating a second solution, wherein creating the second solution comprises removing a first portion of alcohol from the first solution;

creating a third solution, wherein creating the third solution comprises removing a first portion of water from the second solution;

creating a fourth solution, wherein creating the fourth solution comprises adding second fermentation ingredients to the third solution and fermenting the second fermentation ingredients in the third solution.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

creating a fifth solution, wherein creating the fifth solution comprises adding alcohol to the fourth solution.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein preparing the first fermentation ingredients comprises preparing a wort concentrate.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein creating the second solution comprises removing a first portion of alcohol and aromatics from the first solution.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein a first portion of yeast is removed from the first solution prior to removing the first portion of alcohol from the first solution.

15. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

creating a fifth solution, wherein creating the fifth solution comprises removing water from the fourth solution; and

creating a sixth solution, wherein creating the sixth solution comprises adding alcohol to the fifth solution.

16. The method of claim 10 , wherein removing the first portion of alcohol from the first solution comprises vacuum distillation.

17. The method of claim 10 , wherein removing the first portion of water comprises reverse osmosis.

18. The method of claim 10 , wherein removing the first portion of water is performed using a method selected from the group consisting of reverse osmosis, evaporation, and spray drying.
