Abstract

An electric transformer device (balun) is formed on a support plate having a first base face and an opposite second base face. The balun includes a first port ( 40 ) connectable to an electrical line for a differential signal and a second port connectable to an electrical line for a single-ended signal. A first printed conductive track is associated to the first base face of the support plate for connecting the first port to the second port. A printed conductive path is associated to the second base face of the support plate for connecting the first port to the second port. The printed conductive path is formed of a symmetric second and third printed conductive tracks.

Claims (31)

1. A method for manufacturing an electric transformer device to adapt an electrical line for a differential signal to an electrical line fora single-ended signal, comprising:

securing a first metal sheet on a first base face of a support plate;

forming a first port connectable to the electrical line for the differential signal;

forming a second port connectable to the electrical line for the single-ended signal;

patterning the first metal sheet to define a first conductive track that electrically connects said first port to said second port;

patterning the second metal sheet to define:

a second conductive track that electrically connects said first port to said second port; and

a third conductive track that electrically connects said first port to said second port;

wherein patterning the first metal sheet and patterning the second metal sheet defines said first conductive track, said second conductive track and said third conductive track to each have a length of about λ/4, where λ, represents a wavelength of the signal at a center of a pass-band of the electric transformer device; and

forming a via at said first port to electrically connect an end of the first conductive track to an end of the second conductive track.

2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said first conductive track, said second conductive track and said third conductive track are metal tracks made of copper.

3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein patterning the first metal sheet and patterning the second metal sheet comprises performing a selective chemical removal operation of a metal material of the first metal sheet and the second metal sheet.

4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said first metal sheet and said second metal sheet each have a thickness ranging between 17 μm and 70 μm.

5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein patterning the first metal sheet and patterning the second metal sheet comprises defining said first conductive track, said second conductive track and said third conductive track to each have a serpentine path shape.

6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said electric transformer device has an operative frequency band ranging between 760-960 MHz.

7. The method according to claim 1 , wherein patterning the second metal sheet comprises forming said second conductive track to have a shape that is substantially symmetrical to a shape of the third conductive track.

8. A method for manufacturing an electric transformer device to adapt an electrical line for a differential signal to an electrical line for a single-ended signal, comprising:

forming a first port on a support plate that is connectable to the electrical line for the differential signal;

forming a second port on said support plate that is connectable to the electrical line for the single-ended signal;

defining a first conductive track on a first base face of said support plate, said first conductive track having a length of about λ/4 and electrically connecting said first port to said second port;

defining a second conductive track on a second base face of said support plate, said second conductive track having a length of about λ/4 and electrically connecting said first port to said second port, said second base face opposite said first base face;

defining a third conductive track on said second base face of said support plate, said third conductive track having a length of about λ/4 and electrically connecting said first port to said second port;

where λ, represents a wavelength of the signal at a center of a pass-band of the electric transformer device; and

electrically connecting an end of the first conductive track to an end of the second conductive track at said first port.

9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein said first conductive track, said second conductive track and said third conductive track are metal tracks made of copper.
